s14 or s50 swap is what that screams, great car though.

What they all said plus the m42 is an incredibly smooth engine, I really like the way the power comes out of it.

                  Hooray! M42! Diamantschwarz!

Man I want to start over with a new one...and did you say yours has no sunroof? Dammit I want one without one so badly.

So tell me your plans for the car, especially after seeing your clean E46.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments, i really appreciate all the support.

One21Two: Nice come up. Welcome to R3V. u should come out to our meets on Wed. nights in Walnut.

Re: will do depends what time i get off. Normally i get off pretty late so coming from downtown, the meet will probably be over

Massive Lee: The 4 banger handles much better. Front is lighter. Car is better balanced. I'd buy a 318is over a 325is anytime.

Re: Maybe not faster but handles better and definitely a lot lighter. The whole purpose for buying this car is for handling, lightweight. Imagine lightweight chassis + S14, s/c, or turbo :P

sumyungguy: Nice.. Be sure to get on m42club.com as well..

                    Re: already there :P thanks!

RedStar240: S14 or s50 swap is what that screams, great car though.

Re:That's right! "NO SUNROOF" thats the whole reason why i picked iup this car was for its excellent handling abilities. Plans for now would be clean up the interior and take care of any problems that would cause the car to run poorly in the future. Then suspension parts sways, springs & shocks or coilovers, strut bar. Followed by maybe more power *wink**wink*? Exterior always last. Baby steps at a time i'm not in a rush.

So much for the fuel economy theory.

I don't think people are worried about insurance rates on a 16 year old car

Not having to replace the timing belt would be a plus but not if that means less power. The only 318 i've driven was and e36 and it was scary slow.

I just feel the best non s14 4 cylinder BMW is a 2002. Now thats light weight.

According to Motor Trend back when they tested it, it got 22/27.

I've gotten much better with a light foot...eh to each his own, there are ton of 325/318 debate threads....
