I've talked to him on unofficialbmw.com forums and apparently it is some sort of Alpina hybrid or something. There were a lot of weird models in South Africa.

This was my questions and his reply on that forum:

Do you have pictures of the interior? All Alpinas have a plaque inside in the little compartment in front of the ashtray with the production number of the car and how many of that particular car were produced. It looks as if somebody just took a 325is and put a couple Alpina Roundels on.

That being said, that is one of the best looking e30s I've ever seen! I love the color and it looks to be in absolutely perfect shape! Let's see some interior pics! I love the M-Tech II kit!

                      Hi Ken

The M-Tech II kit is available in on all 325is here, from 88' upwards, and when i bought the car,I just looked like a standard 325is, until I had taken the car to BMW, to have the C'o's set, I will try my best to get some pic's of the interior posted soon, the air-dams run straight to the back of the front brake disk's, the motor is standard, but most parts around the motor is different, the computer box doesn't not a sticker, but rather an imprint on alipna on it, and the airflow meter as well, the motor output is up by 10kw's as compared to the 155kw on the standard 325is. The visible different inside the car the steering wheel, gear knob, i know these are inter-changable parts, but according to BMW these are factory parts...the exhaust as well...The B3 according to most people is as up-grade on the 325i.

very nice car. from what I know here in germany, Alpina never made any right hand drive e 30s with plaques. they were cars that were tuned by alpina. alpina does not make a badge like that either. that is something you can buy on german ebay though. I have an origional alpina computer also, and it has no imprint on it, just an alpina sticker on it. could be something done from alpina though. you can still buy all of those parts today from alpina too.

                          Mike is right.

A slick looking car though, mtec2s are almost always hot. The color is different.
                          Im now E30less.

The paint on that thing is top notch. Nice car... keep it clean.
