Car is looking great. Always good seeing so much work being done by an actual owner. Keep it up.

What kind of tires are running on the bottlecaps ??

einstein, the trick there is not to grind down so far, that you remove the welds on the subframe. just enough is removed to get it to sit better.

coouuper, they used to be my backup rain tires for autox, trash now.

              lets put this bish together!

as you can see, i couldnt wait to get the front and rear together asap

next was skirts. here i went into detail to make things look right.

last picture shows some problems with the abs. a heat gun fixed the wave and a dead blow leveled out the high spots on the body. a thin strip of 3m double sided, glued the top together while oem clips hold the weight.

I presented a procedure to refurb chrome trim in another recent thread, same pic here.

some assembly required. all new oem parts

a bit of rust prevention and new gaskets installed. Man are they a bitch!

Just a little dirty. Cleaned out the whole system.

Since my clean new ones are currently busy making another car look pretty, i had these pieces of shit lying around. lots of sanding and detailed SEM coats make em new. I lost the plastic rivets so i used aluminum.

Not the quality of originals, just a test to see if i could actually repair UV-dried side mouldings. The ones now on the car are in awesome condition.

Winshield install... that was a headache!
              Prep the glass

Clean out the gutters. you can see where the paint shop didnt get everything out and painted over it. You can also see the paint match.

I decided to keep it original and use a sealant like how my car came from factory. This is 3M Sealant and Glazing Compound...

              and pack that gasket TIGHT!

...hmm, ran out of pictures. drop in glass and install strip.

anyway, i will get more pics preped this week. its about to get really hot. :D

Definately love where you taking this car. This has got to be the best buil up thread i've read so far. Its nice to see the sentimental value the the car has for you. Just makes me wish i could ever find my dads first E21 320. keep us posted.

                      great thread!

I'm interested, are there specific spots on the fender to mount a sidemarker? Or do you just eye it up and drill a hole?

There are specific instructions to doing it right.
I modified them slightly for asthetic purposes - ie, brought it up 10mm and forward a smidge.
I will post the directions later. You can get the markers from Abrahams Motorsports.
The cables run inside the body frame above the wheels and are tied into the blinker lines. They look awesome!!

                              Out for a drive

Sorry about the quality... shrinking them down is not coming out too nice. I'm struggling to figure out how to get these huge pictures into internet sizes. Any suggestions?
Heres one i couldnt bear shrinking.
