Perfect day for working on the car last Sunday.

Nice fresh Glasurit Single stage paint.
Roll bars are a total pain in the dick to paint.

Still need to cut the carpet around the floor and make a peice of carpet to cover where the seats use to be. Waiting on some padding as well.
This was one of those things i've wanted in my e30 since I got into them when I was about 8 yrs old.

M42 is essentially just a nv m50 with a couple cylinders lopped off.
With a m47 crank and s52 pistons people are making close to 200bhp with proper tuning and with boost its like any motor the deeper your pockets the more power.
Got the roll bar painted today should have it in with pics by lunchtime tommorrow.

Wow just read through this whole thread.... man all that looks like fun!! i can't wait till i get done school and buy a house with a garage...
I say complete and meticulous rebuild of the spare M42, paint the block, head, etc, and turbo the living shit out of it. Nothing is more badass than a screaming fast M42 car.
btw i'm the dude with the car that was separated from yours at birth:

Getting close, Finally welded up the rest of the roll bar Memorial Day. Should have it painted and in tomorrow.
Did a few other little projects I've been wanting to get too.
Had to take the hood off to properly clean where the previous owner was nice enough to spray black paint all over my engine bay.

Found some rust

I wire wheeled the area then brush primered it. Just temporary.

Much better.

I got some new used seats as well. Made some adapters to use the stock sliders.
Also picked up another motor locally

Complete motor with extra m44 rods and pistons for $150
Big plans for the motor. But ill get more parts before I post the plan.

Yeah I had to get a new one.
I've waited for a used one for years but I kept missing them.
I got most of the plates bent/cleaned up yesterday. it needs a bit of work to fit and look how I want it too

Did you get the VSR bar new? Thinking of picking one of those up too down the road.Leave a comment:

Back on the ground but apart again...

Still just test fitting. Im going to weld the whole bar solid.
Its a VSR bar, im pretty happy with how it fits, its tight to the head liner and but the mounts to the body on the rear part will need some finessing.
I'll work on it this weekend and should have it painted sometime next week.
Ive always wanted one of these.

Meticulous work there. Sometimes I wish I took the time to paint what I took apart. But of course I never feel like it when I'm actually doing the work - always in a hurry.Leave a comment:
