    Pics of / About my new e30: 1991 325ix

    Hi everyone,

    Just picked up my fourth ever BMW. An Alpine Weiss II on Black e30 325ix. Been looking for one of these for a while and just happened across this one. The seller was really cooperative, even waiting for me to get my money together and picking me up from the Greyhound terminal. But enough about that, more about the car!

    She has 186k on the clock, heated seats, power everything. Sadly only the basic OBC, but I’ll be looking to retrofit the other one in there soonish. Its an automatic, and from what I can tell someone either cut the springs or put some sport ones on. The rides harsher than I expected so I’m guessing that they either didn’t put them back on right after cutting or put on another e30’s sport springs assuming they fit. Based on the uneven wear on the tires, I’d bet the latter. Engine cover says timing belt was changed at 138k, I’m trusting that for the time being but I plan on changing it as soon as I accumulate funds to set my mind at ease.

    The car has two small rust pots at either end of the door sills, you can see them in the pics, once summer comes around I was hoping to attack those before it spreads. Rest of the paint and body is mint, could use a coat of wax and maybe a polish but its very well kept. The interior is immaculate, only issue is a missing glovebox, not sure if its vinyl or leather. Beyond that, I LOVE this car, after my e34 was wrecked then stolen, I bought a Jeep Cherokee thinking I’d grow to love it, but didn’t. So happy I sold it to buy this gem.

    Issues:
    Transmission is shifting hard when it downshifts, fine on expressways and upshifting, just very hard shifts on the way down.:help
    Glovebox is missing (need a black one if anyone knows of one)
    Antenna wont go down but motor whirs
    Rear Defrost button is stuck down (have someone whos parting me a new one)
    Spare tire is completely blown out, need to replace it asap

    Plans:
    Put on some stock springs (looking if anyone has them for sale)
    New tires
    New plugs (I know which ones to get lol, the stock W8LCRs from Bosch)
    Possibly trade someone here for a set of Mille Miglia Cellos for my stock basketweaves?
    All red tail lights
    Angel eyes
    Hunt for a chip for the e30 325ix

    It looks like my car with two doors and alpine.

    Just keep the v12 out of the iX and you will be good.

      Haha, the v12 stays in Chicago, IL and the iX stays in Cambridge, MA.

      ...Though they might meet in summer...

              Looks decent. Get that rot soted out and a lip and you will be in business.

                Never had to deal with rot before, what do I do? Yeah looking for a lip, but only after I get it back to the stock ride height, or I'll lose it asap on these roads.

                  MIS is Michigan International Speedway. We are having a BMWCCA meet there in the spring. I don't know if I have all parts for that car but quite a few parts in this thread.
