even if that isn't vinyl, vinyl is a good idea. they use it on the COT cars for NASCRAP. patterning is a good idea to hide the seams, how well is it holding up since you've been driving around, any rock chips or anything?
I did the design, sent it to a printer, they sent it back, and me and some friends applied it late at night over the spread of 2 weekends. It was pain, but I'm more than happy with the results.
Seems to be holding up just fine. I haven't washed it yet, but you can't even see the bird crap on it. Success. It may not need to be washed. Ever.
Right now it's riding on the bears, but I only drive it maybe twice a week, still waiting on some cool things. It will be at bimmerfest, complete with a disclaimer: "I know, I'm not perfect, but daddy still loves me." sticker or something for anyone not satisfied with the imperfections. After bimemrfest, she will hopefully be a track slut.
I'll snap some today, it's lower, but not as low as it will be when cool things are done.

sounds cool, is it basically like applying window tint?
as far as the design, was it cut for the different body pannels of the car, or did you cut that out as you went? who was the shop you sent your design to?

and finally, what is the texture like?
Kind of, the vinyl that it's printed on I was told not to use water or any type of solvent with it. A heat gun and patience is what you need. The adhesive on the back side doesn't like water.
It was just cut out as we went, I wasn't worried about repeating because I tried to make the design pretty random. The company requested to not be named. I've got some companies bookmarked that do only vehicle wrapping though if you want to shop around.
Texture is smooth, and it's glossier than the pictures show, hell of a lot nicer than the used and abused Alpine underneath.
