Ok, before it dissappeard:

Did you take it to any repair shop that you had left or handed the key over?
i.e tires shop, valet, etc.

If you have a girlfriend or wife or any loved ones, did they ever hold your key and left it somewhere for awhile, or drove it with their friend ( who really into e30 but doesn't know you)?

Or, Car show aftermath ( bad guy followed you).
Those kind of scenarios might give you some clue.
Other than that, a flat bed probably took it away after knowing the rims or, anything under the hood!

Fuck man i would have done the same thing, i just don't buy his claims. If it is true then it is a really cool fucking story that couldn't have worked out any better. Too many variations in the stories and a few things in them didn't seem believable.

FYI Curt, you need to notify the police that you recovered your own car and that it is no longer stolen. If not and they spot it or you get pulled over, they will assume you are the thief and it could get ugly.

Wow, wtf is up with the shit-on-Curt-fest? Ya he may have acted impulsively, but if I had poured that much money, blood and sweat in to my car and it was stolen, I would be pissed as hell too (and so would all of you, so stfu). Was it the best course of action? Probably not. But he got his car back, the thief got what he deserved, and it's over.

Jeff was out of line with pulling the gun (the law will not look kindly on that, and it is very irresponsible ownership and operation of a weapon), but I can see where he is coming from. He had no idea what this guy was like, what he was capable of or what he might have had on him. They have opened themselves up to legal suits and assault charges, but only if the thief decides to press those charges (at which point he will open himself up to GTA charges as well). My guess is, he's too much of a chicken shit to do it.

So everybody just calm down at stop shitting bricks, it's over.

What happens now? Do u have to cancel the police complaint? Is there an investigation? And if so how would that end up? Cuz isn't this martial law...
