    To the Dark side

Well I made the move. I got what I wanted for my convertible so I moved to the dark side and I'm pretty glad I did.

I got $4000 for my vert, which was basically stock, minus some interior goodies and an m-tech I wing.

I bought a Black 08 Civic LX Coupe w/ manual. I was looking for a safe car that was running on reg. gas and had a/c. All in all I really like my new car. Not the coolest thing in the world. My plans are a hitch for a bike rack and tinted windows. No pics yet.

I still have my 335i project which I will be doing this summer. I bought a rebuilt head for it and now just waiting to get off school in June.

props to you man. i am letting go of my e30 too. keeping the m5, but i'm thinking about something newish, with good mileage and relatively reliable. thinking about a honda fit (snicker)...

i think eventually when conditions permit me to tool around the track and such i will be in an e30. that probably wont be for a few years though.

Yea, I was looking at the fit but didn't really fit in it that well. My knee was up against the dash. The Civic fits me pretty well. This is a car that hopefully lasts me 10 years so I can get a good cash flow when I get out of college, then be like Vlad. haha

I did try to get the most "manly" civic minus the SI

        So where's the pics?

I actually really like the new civic. I'm currently looking for a commuter that gets better mileage than my 4Runner. If I was looking to buy new, I would buy a civic 4 door in a heartbeat.

Why don't you look into a Hybrid Civic is you want great gas mileage.

                Congrats on purchase.
                Slightly preowned or spanking new?

My brother and I took a new one (sticker $20,000ish) for a spin it was an auto and seemed like decent commuter, stereo with the sub was a nice touch too.

                  :D

My dad came with me and he's been in sales for 25+years. Dad > New car salesmen haha. I actually felt bad for the guy.

Yea, the bass in the car actually scares me a little. I'm used to the stereo in the vert having ZERO bass. Now I have to keep it to a low volume and 2 outta 6 bass because I feel like I'm going to blow a speaker.

The improvement in mileage isn't enough to justify the cost in the first ten years of ownership in most cases. Plus hybrids have batteries that all the eco-freak hippy idiots forget about. Those batteries contain all kinds of nasty heavy metal that is even more harmful and toxic than any of the other stuff in a modern car. But hey, it makes hippies feel better.

In so cal hybrid's are super common. why? the state and fed pay you back for buying one. usually around $5k. i dont consider myself a hippy by any means, more like a person who actually does research instead of one spreading internet lore. most hybrids use ni-mh, same as last gen rechargable consumer batts. yea they're nasty but properly disposed they pose no issue. and it is quite uncommon to see even a 1st gen prius needing batt replacement. the next gen cars are more promising, with li-ion polymer battery packs. i love my m5 and e30. but honestly, i'm dumping the e30 for something more practical as a daily. frankly, these near zero emission honda's are a great choice. knock em all you want, but that's where my money will go, and i guess the same for a lot of people when gas is $6 a gallon by year's end.

So here are some updated pictures.

Had time to get the Civic cleaned up and then FINALLY got the motor back from getting the head rebuilt and put on.

I am getting the wrinkle finished black VC and manifold...I need a dash and windshield

                              New Civic

                              Motor:

Bad pic of engine bay: going to clean up before putting the motor back in

Really really bad pic of interior
Changed from crappy tan non-sport to houndstooth sport minus back seat, need dash and windshield
