THANKS ALOT GUYS!!! i thought for a second i would be getting ripped on for not having a bmw anymore lol :loco:

Ya she should be fun, i have another vr6 longblock going to the mechine shop here soon for some work.Bored out to a 3.0L with all forged internals and complete ARP hardware, i have SS exhaust studs for it,custom cut cams for it, 7angle valve grind with bigger valves, all new valve guides, sealed rings you know... all the little goodies..im shooting for 20psi and a 50shot of nitrous..

turbo is a .70ar cold side and a .63ar hot side.. garrett

yep its a rado dash in it with full rado center consil set.

i just had a guy give me $100 for the westy nose so she's gone but i have something else in store i think you'll like.(badgless aero with smoked e-codes and an "angry" eyebrow and red glowing city lights)

      totalled...sad sad day....

looks like a pretty sick build. that exhaust housing is going to choke the piss out of the motor, especially if its going to be a 3.0L, at 20psi. tell me more about your build. I know a lot about this motor and i'd be happy to give you any info on it. I studied the motor and forced induction for about 2 years and planned to build a vrt in my original mkiv, but ended up hittin black ice and all my prep work went down the drain.
        I LOVE vrt builds. :D

        are doin a front mount? w/m? a/w?
        short runner?
        peloquin?
        SEM or flash tuning?

any info you have would be a greatly appr' help! i havent really done much research yet, more along the lines of "i have to get it going to beat some friends in a bet they have saying it wont happen" lol

im just throwing it together on this motor with some of the goodies that will go on the next motor and some that wont.It will have a short runner with an air-2-water setup im thinking 3" charge pipe, I/C setup right where the batt' would be. It will have a crap-cast manifold just to get it on the road. When it gets the new motor, it will have an equal length tubular manifold and alot more goodies on it.

oh and yes..i do plan on it being dumped on its nuts... goal is 16X9's all the way around with a low "et" and alot of lip

              totalled...sad sad day....

thats not bad for a start at all. the manifold with net you almost the same amount of hp as a tubular manifold. the vr6 motor has horrible flowing issues so the only thing it will really do is give you a little more flow up top in the rpm's IF IT IS equal length and pulsated. BUT to have an equal length manifold built is not cost efficient. it will be expensive and not easy. I've only seen one person pull it off and he did it himself. Afterwards, it did'nt really make that much of a difference.

Fueling.... For 20psi, there is a company called C2 Motorsports who makes a fueling kit good for 400whp(depending on whether your car is OBD I or II). it comes with 42lb. injectors, 4in. maf housing, and a flash tune. They are THE BEST tuning company if you dont want to go SEM. They also make a nice short runner intake for about 600 bucks. I DO, however, know a guy who makes short runners that are correct amount of plenum. Here is some of his work...

It should be about 2:1 x engine litre if you want to see any real gains out of it. To maximize your high end torque curve you need to make around 60% vs. total engine volume. In this case you have 3.0 litres of fury so you plenum should hold somewhere in the range of 2 litres of volume to be highly effective. Just something to think about.

Clutch.... there is a company out of Indiana called South Bend Clutch and they rock! I went with them on my first jetta and they hold strong. Not only that but they have the best prices of anyone on the market. Talk to Andy... He handles import cars.

Flywheel... Stick with a heavy single mass flywheel. You will need the on-going inertia between shifts.

Trans... Now, this is the part that will most likely break on you first. You'll need a peloquin or quaife lsd for sure. hard shifting usually snaps synchros at around 400 to 450 lb. ft. torque. especially 4 gear pulls. Just be easy if you make that much. You'll also need upgraded axles... Raxles makes some nice ones that are warrantied. Schimmel Performance makes some that are made for drag racing, but are pricey.

Engine... i think you pretty much have this covered. lol. a built 3.0l with be solid. I am curious tho, what are the specs on your cams? You'll also need upgraded motor and trans mounts. Black Forest Industries makes some nice inserts but if you have the money nothing beats the VF mounts. I think Gruvenparts sells a billet t-stat housing now, but im not sure... Pick one up if they do because the stock plastic one tends to balloon and crack with higher water temps. also, get a crackpipe(same reason as the t-stat housing)...
gruvenparts.com's Crackpipe is improved over VW's factory coolant distribution pipe (AKA crack pipe).

Oh, and you definately need an oil cooler kit. these motors like getting hot.

Turbo... depending on what you like, you'll need to change out that housing... it's just too small. is this a t3/4 hybrid or a full t4? Boost factory sells housings for like $150 to $200. With your set-up right now, you will see boost early and probably see full boost at anywhere between 3600 to 3900 rpms.

Ignition... Plain and simple, the stock coilpack sucks. They crack all the time and you will always get misfires. The best set-up is a custom MSD set-up.
This website has a little DIY on it...

Gruvenparts sells a mounting bracket for the mod....
MSD Coil Pack Brackets Use this bracket to replace your problematic OEM VW coil pack on MK3 and MK4 engines with MSD 8224 coils Brackets are made from super Lightweight Aircrafy Aluminum Thick layer of Powder coating Insulates the Metal Bracket Preventing Shorts from the MSD coils MSD 8224 coils are not included

For spark plugs the most popular choice is NGK-BRK7E's gapped at .024, but with an MSD set-up, you can run a cooler gap(usually anywhere from .032 to .040).

Lmk if you have any questions on a part or if you're having trouble fitting something. I'll do my best to help.

lol.. so you do know your stuff their buddy, I own my own fab' shop so mounts..no prob. and its getting full meqasquirt, i also have a full MSD SCI box setup minus the coils(thanks for the link to the write-up i was going to try and find one here in the near future).I was looking at the short runner he made a few days ago lol. Oh and gruvenparts is my home page

I have a FEW things from them laying around already

I can tig weld and all, but someone stole my tig out of my shop one night when i ran in the house to go to the bathroom and didnt shut the door...came out about 10 min later it was gone :dot:

so its time to pay someone to make me one.I was thinking of contacting him and seeing if he would make me one for my setup. Oh and thanks for the technical specs! As far as the motor, i know what i want the outcome to be and i know its been done, so i know it can be replicated. I just need to get all the specs for it. For now im just running that turbo on the stock motor and probably at 10psi max. (i also have a set of srt4 stock injectors laying in my goodie box waiting to go on. For the big motor, i have a set of 650cc's:twisted:)

thanks everyone again for showing interest and respect for the little vw

she should be fun, but sadly i think she will be put on hold for i dont know how long in a couple months. I got a deal i cant pass up... VERY VERY VERY VERY cheap aka...under $300 64 impalla ss that needs a frame/motor/trans/wheels/nose clip. but the rest of the car is MINT!!!!!!!! original interior is MINT! and it only has 54k orig. miles on the body. (needs new nose due to a pole head-on but i checked and the rest of the car is streight..)

so the plan is to get it and build it up, drop my 65 corvette 327 stroker in it and put full corvette z06 brakes on it and some other goodies and give it to my mom for her birthday since her first car was a 64 imp. SS. :D

                      totalled...sad sad day....

but those drag times they show have GOT to be wrong..lmao.. we'll find out as soon as i get her home. I'll be picking it up mid-late next week if all go's well.Just waiting for the owner to get home from work(fireman) and he doesnt know when he'll be back. :(

and for you ADEN, ill get a vid of me tearing up a set of tires..and a before and after the new exhaust..lol i just ordered up a full header back magnaflow setup with X-pipe. and im debating single or twin turbo..or twin screw compressor setup..or i might just drop in my 429 cobra-jet motor i have laying around. :nice:

I'm also debating on the new paint. What do you guys think? I'm going to be spraying it in fords midnight metalic blue, and im debating if i want a racing stripe or not? and if i do im thinking dual fat white racing stripes down the middle, and ill spray those in escalade pearl white and lay 4-5 layers of clear over so its blended and with a DEEP mirror finish.

what do you all think of the paint scheme idea?
