RE: Knee Bolster - Have one. It's off right now because there's still some stuff I'm doing... I may upgrade to a later version, are all the earlier ones made out of pressed board?? Weak.
If you buy a new early knee bolster from teh dealer it will be plastic... BMW must have got some complaints and changed it. afaik the later airbad knee bolsters are NLA.
Got around to washing the ol' girl and taking some pics. Sorry, I wasn't very creative with location. When I do a full detail later in the summer, she'll get a proper photo shoot.
It's a Euro market 1985 320i Baur TC, 86k original miles on the clock.
Nice example. Keep it and enjoy it. It is a small club of owners that truly appreciate that model :D

Nice car though
Good to know... I'll probably do that, I was hoping to grab that airbag version from the for sale section here, but he checked and it won't fit.
Blue Devil - I just did an interior swap (was a really dirty tan, see sig pic) and I didn't bother putting it back on because it's crap. I'm going to upgrade to the plastic one.
Re: bcaps - they're super clean so they're fine for now, but yeah, I have plans for rims. I'd like to get a good set of 16" BBS RS if possible. Was considering Konig Remembers but got scolded on another forum for thinking about going with Konig!
In addition to the trailer running lights going, I'm also going to swap the exhaust to Magnaflow. Only other major mod I did so far other than fixing random things with OEM parts and swapping the interior was a full Koni suspension.
Personally I'd keep a low mileage car like that stock looking, it's rare enough that it doesn't need to be modified with the usual bolt ons to be different. I think the 'caps look great on it. ;)
looks like a VERY clean early car.
One question. What is that piece in the center section behind the ash tray? never seen one that style before.
and BTW, any rim is better than bottle caps. you need to go with some clean orig. 15" weaves and keep that car very orig. looking.fairly cheap too!-- IMO.
I should have taken a picture of my never moved bottlecap spare tire! Now THAT is a clean bottle cap, still has the original west germany tire on it too!
Mike - are you talking about the Air Conditioning cover panel? Why someone ordered a Baur with AC is beyond me, but there you have it.
Super Sedan - I'm in the burbs. I lived on the west side of Buffalo until December, and this car never experienced it, it was at my brother's shop until I could get into a place with a garage!
The top piece of the targa (the hard section above the front seats) is not original to the car, but the soft section is. In person, you can see the fade on the top piece is more than the soft targa and it has some nicks and one small leak, so it's going to get a restore sometime this summer. I told the story before, but I had to buy a whole Baur shell just to get that one roof piece. Mine was missing, when the car broke down and the guy decided to be done with it, the roof section was missing and he didn't care. Hence the need for the interior swap (which I didn't mind anyway because I prefer the black and it looks MUCH hotter now!)
But the Baur shell ended up being a good buy - a guy had it out in Detroit and he was going to restore it but instead just took everything apart and then lost/sold almost everything, except for a brand new unused Koni suspension (now on my car, I had a seized strut!) and the roof piece I needed. I also pulled a power steering rack off that car but never used it, everything on this car is manual, including the rack. :-)
Anyhow, I had wanted to just get a little beater to drive around town for a couple hundred to not put so many miles on my van, but this is turning into quite the adventure and now I don't want to put too many miles on this one!
Car: $500 (yup)
Donor Car with the Koni suspension: $600 +$200 to go get it
(after I sold off some bits and used the suspension, I made back my $$)
Black sport interior: $500
OEM Carpet: $200
Various maintenance things and an AFM swap: $500
Yeah, there's quite a few nice e30s bouncing around Buffalo.... I'm in for a meet. Let's do it later in the summer so I can address a few last things though!
