Nice! Those seats look like Recaros. The rest of the interior looks super clean, as well, except that driver seat.

My 323i with the 3.23:1 rear end and the 1:1 transmission turns ~3400 rpm @ 70. It is slightly less buzzy than a standard 325iS with a 4.10:1 rear end.

your car should have a 3,64 in it if it is the standard difff for 323i cars.
cool find, and a very unique cool car to have esp. in the U.S.! here in germany I have only seen 2 Hartges like that in the last 13 years- and both were about 8 years ago and were crapped out beatdown turds.
unfortunately Hartge will be of zero help on restoring the car. I was at Hartge a few years back and they have nothing anymore for e30s in stock.
What is the hp. rating from Hartge? does it still have the headers on it?

From what I've read the horsepower is rated at 170. It isn't making nearly that at the moment, I think the afm is toast. The headers are still on the car. I think the only thing I am missing is the wheels, which I have lined up. Maybe you know? Did the early early H23s have the Hartge wheels or BBSs? I'm trying to make sure that I get the correct wheels. Thanks everyone!

Yes, those Hartge skirts should be on this H23. It looks like the originals were removed.

As far as correct wheels, Hartge offered a number of sizes/piece for this year - one piece 7 x 14" 7 x15" & 7.5 x 16". In 3 piece they offered 7.5 x 16 & 7.5 x 17" ALL in 4 on 100. Just because you all haven't seen 3 piece 16 & 17's doesn't mean they weren't available, the above sizes are straight from the 3 series catalog. Joe Funk has a correct set for this car.

You could have the 1.) valve cover/header/full exhaust option or 2.) all of those plus the head. The head option was almost non existent on cars they modified to end up in the USA because of having to meet federal emission laws. If it is the Hartge head with cams, it will have "hartge" stamped into the rear driver side of the head. It is hard to see & may take some contorsions as well as a mirror. The picture I have attached of the head - zoom in on it & you can clearly read the the first 4 letters of Hartge.

The extra gas tank in yours is extremely rare.
