The toaster tankers are sweet. My father had an early black one with a sidecar after my parents got divorced. It was the first motorcycle I ever rode in (or on).

My dad's got pictures from CCA events back in the early 70's, I'll have to ask him to scan and post those up.

I started playin with toy cars as soon as I could remember. I remember very distinctly in kindergarten, not being able to wait until the letter C, so I had an excuse to draw a car and bring in one for show and tell!!

                hehehe

I don't have any pics, but I'm sure my dad has a few of me next to his 88 325is he bought new back then...still owned by a family friend!!

That's gotta be in Europe. 1600 convertibles?
Actually that's in Maine...my dad took his and his friend's 2002's and cut the roofs off one summer.

He said the car had so much chassis flex that going around a corner would make the door pop off if you went to fast. Also, his friend, Peter, crashed the other one...he actually suffered a really bad brain injury and was never the same. Unfortunate...but stupid is as stupid does.

I think they also did have a few 1600's.

Your dad sounds like a guy I could drink a beer with. I've hacked a couple of roofs off cars also.

My mom has always had a corvette.
                          Every body style.
She has belonged to the Corvette club and tracked them since I can remember. She's a bad ass.

It was a 6 year old 325es and had 52K miles on it. I got it for $2600. It wasn't hurt bad, but it was hurt all over. The only body panels that weren't bent were the doors and the trunk lid. Somebody got pwned, or it was a really effective insurance scam.

IIRC, I wound up with about $5500 in it when it was finished, and I did everything myself except the seat covers and the paint. I have some excellent connections in the local car scene, and everything was done really well.

The title inspector said it was the nicest rebuilt total he'd ever seen. :nice:

I sold it two years later for $7K - rebuilt title and all.

The 944 parked next to it was also a rebuilt total. Somebody spun it and backed it into a pole. I bought it for $2200, stuck a battery in it, and drove it around. It was a quick & easy rebuild. I only spent $2500 on it - including the new Borbet Type A wheels & tires.

all of this is my dad's fault. he has had a 84 alfa romeo spider since 1990 and used to take me driving in it all the time. thats where this all started

I got my driver's license in December of 1985, and at about the same time my sister purchased a brand new '86 325 4 door with automatic in Burgandrot with tan cloth interior. At the time, I don't think anyone else in my very small town had a BMW so even though it wasn't the sportiest looking 3 series available, it definitely turned heads.

I drove it on many occasions, so I guess I am lucky enough to recall what an E30 drove, felt, and even smelled like when new. That explains why on every E30 that I purchase, I spend tons of money to make it feel and drive like that one did. Out of the now four E30's I have owned, the latest one-a '87 325 I bought for $500-comes the closest by far.

That E30 back in 1986 is what got me interested, and later hooked, on BMW's-especially E30's. So in a way I guess I have been involved since 1986, but around the end of 1999 was when I really started getting heavily involved in the BMW 'scene'.
