new e30 power headrest, with vid

ok...so i was at the junk yard when i noticed that an e28 with sports had power headrest in it, then i realized that the e30 headrest fit into the track ....so here is what i did.

i got the assembly and brought home, i got the harness off of the power seat part of the car " it used e30 window switches" so i wired it up with the window switch so then you push down it goes down, take your finger off and it stops, same with the up feature. i have non power windows so i put the switched where the power window switches would go. to mount it in the seat it fit perfectly in the same spot as the e28's. picture #1 is the track and #2 is the motor and cable to move the track, #1 fits on a bar right under the headrest and it has another piece to clamp onto it and #2 i just zip tied into place, but you can do it properly by screwing it into the side of the seat "like it was in the e28" then i ran the wire to the bottom of the seat. all in all it kinda cool it wasnt too too hard either, i also picked up another set in witch i plan to do rear headrest, but for future reference you can also use the e32 set up too....

cool, what does the power headrest switch look like? THis would be a neat thing to put in the rear headrests.

Impressive. What motor did you use for it? I know both the E28 and E34 have them, so they aren't hard to get a hold of. What button did you use?

Nice touch. My E28 M5 had those, the cables like to pop out so if they randomly stop working that's the first place I would look.

i used a lighted e30 power window switch for the button , and i used the e28 assembly but you can also use the e32 assembly

I'd be the cable is to blame. I have yet to see one of those gears strip.
