My friend has the High back Recaros in Houndstooth to match my M3 rear but wont part with them no matter how many times I ask.
I was thinking of swapping the cloth with a leather interior to be honest, something I might do in the near future.

Quick question about your engine bay - the plastic wiring cover against the firewall, where it starts going behind the battery: did you have to modify that piece to fit with the battery there, or does it fit in ok? Or is that not the piece that goes along with the main firewall wiring cover?

              Thanks!

^Think you are mistaking my one for the bulkhead cover found in the M3.
Mine is just an extra bit of covering that is found on 316i/318i M40`s.
I had the M3 cover in my last E30 because on that car I mounted the battery in the boot.It covered up the ghost battery terminal and 3 engine harness relays perfectly and made a big difference to the engine bay.Ill try and find a pic and post it up.

Also to those who suggested the strutbrace is on upside down.Well you got me thinking how could I be so stupid to bolt it on wrong.
Well today I decided to take it off and flip it over and guess what...it doesnt fit anywhere near it!
So looks like it was on right first time.
Strubrace is a URracing one as sed in the PBMW race championship here in the UK.

This shows the M3 panel fitted.
Doubt you would get a battery to fit with it fitted though?

I knew about the rear plastic panel that goes on the back wall, but not the panel that goes directly over the hole where the battery is supposed to be. Do you have a part number!

The panel you are refering too is just a trimmed down ECU cover from an E34

                        haha I like it.

Ok now I'm confused, maybe I need to spend some quality time on realoem looking up 318/m40 parts.

I thought you had that M3 panel like in that last photo you put up of the old car... what does that piece on your new car look like, then? Is it just a plastic cover that goes to the ecu hole in the firewall?

I've never seen one of those over here, I wonder if it's a euro only thing

I think I can see it better in this photo, also from a UK guy. hmm interesting

Lobstrosity the part number for the piece in my new car is *1 718 114* and is found on 316i and 318i models with the M40 engine.
Hopefully your local dealer will be able to source you one but if worse comes to worse and you get desperate then I could probably get you a used one and send it over to you although time and cost would probably be an issue.
                          Hope this helps :)
