    What do I have here?

After a year with no E30 (and a move to Cali), I couldn't resist this '88 vert. Is it true they use the 2.7 'e' engine? It feels just like my old '85 325e.

The paint is fair, but all the panel numbers match. The best thing is these tweed seats - in perfect shape! It also has this BMW sticker on the door post about a 'Tourist Program'. Is this like a BMW Individual car? Anyone hear of this before? Oh, and the bottlecaps are going as soon as I can find some 15's I like. The PO put 16" BBS's on there - the front with spacers. Just didn't look right.

Only bad - A/C switch, cruise and central locking are inop. Looking for a relay somewhere...

    Cheers,

    David

Can you post a picture of the engine bay?

I'm not sure about the Tourist Program sticker, interested to hear about it though.

my guess is that the seats were redone, along with the steering wheel. Realoem shows it as a US car based on vin. Maybe they did a euro delivery?

Nothing special here. The PO swears the car was delivered with those seats, but they look too good to be original in a 20 year old car...

              Definitely no an 'e'. That's a standard 325i engine.

I vote "Euro Delivery". The seats are probably reupholstered. BMW wouldnt put gray cloth with tan vinyl door panels, carpet, and tan seatbacks.

Awesome seats though, a friend of mine has seats in his that are just like that, except a bit darker. His has black door panels with inserts that match the seats.

Nice find. Besides the wheels, any other plans for the car?

Awesome vert man. The tweed seats look killer, I'm not sure if they made 325Ic's with an m20b27.

They use the 325i motor, not the 2.7l E motor. It's probably just in need of a good tuneup. Bear in mind that the 325 cabrio is a heavy beast, so it won't feel nearly as sprightly as a coupe or sedan.

The seats were definitely redone, and the steering wheel looks like it has one of those DIY wraps you can put on yourself. I love the Cocoa mats, too. :)

Thanks, guys. Yeah, I think you're right - its just Euro delivery on the car. The tweed is actually tan and does match the interior. The pics make it look gray. The coco mats I had in my lachsilber touring were grey and black, and in this car the grey actually pics up the tan from the seats/door panels and doesn't look too bad.

Thanks, for the clarification on the M20. I thought so, but the seller insisted it was a 2.7. Didn't feel like arguing with a pending sale.

On mods, wheels/tires first, then we'll see.
                          Cheers,
