Lighter than an iron block S52 if my memory serves me right... B35s were rated at 211hp and Euro B34s have 218hp. Nevermind the power, it's the torque where M30s shine. It starts low and has a ridiculous curve. The euro B34s make 90% of their peak torque from just over 2000rpm to a little over 5000rpm. Throw a cam, chip, and headers at it and your tires will beg for mercy.why an M30? its big and heavy'88 528e /// '88 M5 /// '89 951 /// '98 E430 /// '02 M5Comment

dang thats a hot e30,why not m30?Shitloads of torque and reliable!Comment

i can understand you questioning that choice, but i got the the m30 and the e34 it came in for $500 bucks. sold the cat and a couple of other parts and the purchase paid for itself.
i plan on keeping NA for the mean time but the guys are right in saying it has monster torque and is bullet proof.
its a DD that will see a lot of autocross courses, some drifting, and the occasional track day.
plus, my boy abe (loonibab325) swapped an s52 for a nut and a half, while i probably spent a grand at most.
thanks for the comments guys.
more to come later.sigpic

i guess im just power hungry since spending time behind the wheel of my S14. it made 453 at the wheels and im ready for more. lol.
my M20 is doing the job for me right now. but there might be an LS1 in the cars future. i just have a thing for overpowered cars i guess. lol.

IIRC some of them put down 220. The potential for huge power via boosting is there too. Regardless, they have tons of torque. I had a 82 735i euro - that car was a beast. So fun to drive - and only because of the motor!
If I did a motor swap I'd do a m30."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."Comment
