    My e30

Just thought I would introduce myself since I'll be here a while. Just purchased my first car, a 88 325is (160k/5spd) for $2800. I'm 16, hope you guys don't mind.

Anyways here it is. Kind of boring I know.

First I plan on removing pin stripes, repainting faded hood, and then trying to restore the paint. Once I get some money together again I'll get wheels, drop, some interior bits, and paint lights/trim/grill. Eventually I'll try to get plastic bumpers or tuck/paint these.

Nice starting point, and welcome to R3V. Enjoy the sarcasm!

Every day I wake up we drink a lot of coffee and watch the CNN
Every day I wake up to a bowl of clover honey and let the locusts fly in.
    Lobsterbacks attack the town again
Wrap all my things in aluminum
Beams of darkness streak across the sky
Pink rays from the ancient satellite
Every time I look out my window same three dogs looking back at me.
Every time I open my windows cranes fly in to terrorize me.

Nice ride. This car has a lot of potenitial. I wish I could convert to plastic bumpers so easily, but then agian I can't :(. I think I would convert to plastics first so you can get them painted with your hood then drop and then rims . Have fun modding your car.

Yea I guess I'll just wait it out. Its just that I can't afford bumpers for another month or two and the hood is really bothering me.

What about M-tech bumpers? I remember reading somewhere that they have to go over the plastics? I can't simply tuck/remove the diving boards and put them on top?

I believe you mean m-tech 1 bumpers correct? If so I think you need euro bumpers not the DB metal bumpers.

She has late bodystyle so I'm pretty sure she would use the Mtech2 bits.

Whether or not you need the late body non mtech bumpers to put the mtech 2 stuff over or not, I dont know.

nice find. It looks nice. I believe he was talking about the Mtech2 replica kits. I also believe that they go over the original body parts, but i think thats only the valence not the bumpers. But then again am not 100% sure.

I'm not a she actually but it's alright. I just realized I kind of messed up spelling out my nickname. Are name changes allowed here?

And yea I'm talking about M-tech 2. Does anyone else know if I could just install the kit over my existing bumpers?

Welcome! Thats a nice 1988 you have there.

I have an '88 myself that I did the plastic bumper conversion on. Enjoy your stay!

Cool car man... and try some heavy duty buffing before repainting a non-clearcoat e30, you might surprise yourself :-)

Yeah in order to put on M-Tech 2 bits u need to have plastics on first because they are covers. They wont go over the diving boards, they're made to only go over the plastics.

Thats the Early model valance... 87 and older. I dont really see a reason you couldnt swap to that but typically people swap the late valance for the newer one[like i did]
