Year in photos: Lachsilber 1988 325is

    Well....almost one year :p

Here is the formal introduction of my 1988 325is. I will continue to add pics as I progress with this car.

Purchased it the day after Thanksgiving 2007. At that time, the car needed paintwork & the usual maintenance work. It was a strong running car, very tight, & mechanically solid. I was lucky to come across a car like that. The color is Lachsilber or Salmon Silver.

Either way, I paid a very reasonable price for it & took it home. At that time, I also had a 1986 325es. The 325is was to replace the eta once it was cosmetically perfect. I sold my eta on June 24, 2008.

I do have plans of improving suspension, but since auto-x season is over & winter is coming up, I figured I'd put it off until next Spring.

Anyways...on to the pics. Pics are in the order in which the transformation took place. Couple pics are from my phone. I also do have a M-Tech I spoiler in paint at the moment. I will add pics once that is installed.

    Enjoy! Mike

Awsome work! It's come a long way. Throw some H&Rs on there and it'll be perfect!

great progress. I would diffenently take the time though to repaint grills/trim/rockers. It will make a big difference.

As far as the rockers go, its something I've been meaning to do for a long time. But I also have thought about getting side skirts & a rear valence eventually.

Definitely! Shadowline the trim while you're at it too

Cup holder is OEM...it was in the car when I bought it. Personally, I find it useless for most cups/bottles.

I love the new wheels, facelift and seats. Paint job looks really nice too. The only thing I liked from before was your old shift knob. The black floor mats ad nice contrast too.

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

LOVE the seats, and the change to black door pulls.

Only thing that irks me is the painted iS lip. But thats a preference thing, it still looks good color matched of course.

Thanks! One of the reasons I actually bought it was because of the color. I'm really not a silver or gray type of person, but when I saw it on an e30, I knew I'd be one of the few ppl with it.

As far as the 3rd brake light goes, I've looked into it, but I think the work involved outweighs the outcome.

what did you use to do the rear shelf?
                              did you dye it?
