Just picked up a beater...pictures for posterity/build thread.

Well, just finished boosting my miata, and with student teaching coming I didn't really want to put 70 miles a day on that car so I went looking for a DD. I really wasn't expected to pick up an E30 (I'm a VW guy also..) but a good friend of mine picked this up a few weeks ago and sold it to me at a pretty decent price I think.

    Car:
1987 lachsilber 325 (not badged as an e...but its an eta)
    5 speed
    156k original miles
Crappy paint, but fucking CLEAN body
ZERO...repeat, fucking ZERO rust on the entire car that I can find.

Bone stock other than the peeling clear from a bad reclear and the badass pin stripe when I picked it up. :giggle:

    Mods so far:
-So far I installed a chip that the PO had from one of his previous E car...(Autothority)
-Took a paint pin to the faded, cracked, ugly windshield gasket thing.
    -New plugs

    Needs/Things to come asap:
-Tires. or Just some new wheels with tires. Might pick up a set of weaves and rock them from a friend.
    -Rear wheel bearings, bitch DRONES
    -Brakes if needed

-Lights...I'm a lighting whore...sealed beams suck...I'll prolly go Euro something or another. Just something h4/h1.
-New Odo gears and cluster lights
-These fucking warning sensors to work

    Wants:
-Dash and glove box replacement. maybe a newer head unit.
-Lowered...Billys/Vogtland maybe? Just depends what I can find.
    -LSD
-I Head swap (already have IM/EM and parts available) Just basically need a head and a chipped ECU...and tach from a 325.)

    Pictures...more to come.

Our old G8SCHNL tag on the rear is very fitting. :D

It's a great starting point man, and you don't seem like the typical early model E30 owner who will drive the car into a wall and then do the same for the rear to tuck the bumpers and be cheap. I am really interested to see where you take it.

I just read about that, while it would be nice to get rid of these bumpers...that seems slightly hack.

I did manage to kill the glove box already. So...keep an eye out, lol. Dash too if you find a good deal.

I need to look into motor/diff mounts...figure out what holds this thing together and possibly replacing them. Its a blast to drive, but MUCH more loose than the miata. Chipped, it ACTUALLY feels like a 6 cylinder now. :D

Its so nice to be back in a Euro.

Tucking them makes them shorter, but it's so refreshing to see someone throw a set of euros on there. But I have to admit, untucked, they make a killer set of chairs/benches.

I'll watch out for a glovebox. Jett Murphy with the white 318is in Boone had a crack-free dash he told me about about a month or so ago. You can shoot him an e-mail via the HCSCC member's list. He's got a good bit of other parts as well (as he parted out a 325iX coupe not too long ago.)

Edit: Check AKG Motorsport for those motor mounts, they are pretty well recommended. Good to hear you got that ECU swapped in, that chip makes a significant difference in the eta.

                  Thanks.

The interior is in pretty good shape. Just needs some TLC and maintenance work.

The e28 535 belongs to the PO of this car. It is cleaner than all hell.

Not sure how old these are, the exhaust is different now...couple of other little things, but you get the gist.

This is how it looks now IIRC...but can't find any bigger pictures. the car is sick.

Yeah supposedly it means "goes fast" in German, it is from the douche PO of my father's M5.

Ha, Adam, those pictures are from the first day we went to look at the car. At the moment, the only obvious cosmetic modifications are a set of 16" Style 5's, euro H1/H4 headlamps/grilles, and the Ireland Engineering muffler. I'm sure he'll pst some more recent shots of it later on.

I thought so, but its the best ones I could find. :)

I may or may not tuck the bumpers, it seems very hack, BUT it is a temporary solution if I do decide Euro bumpers are the way to go.. It IS a beater, but I still want to tastefully mod it. We shall see where it goes.
