Well thank you sir.
I have the vin plate because I used to own the car. I bought a B6 at a junkyard outside of Kaiserslaugtern (sp?) De. I paid $400 for what was the most beat e30 I had ever seen. The original Alpina 2.8l had been replaced by an m90, it was missing the $1200 (then) radiator, and half of the interior. It was covered in mold and moss, and had enough rust to make the antfarm/rustbucket m3 look concourse. At the time (18yo) I didn't have the time or the skills for such a resurection. After months of searching I located a US spec '83 318, and ended up having to do a shit load of body work to that as well. It then recieved everything of value from the Alpina. I paid stupid money to ship it back here, (and have it seized by customs for months) I drove it for quite a while untill a rad hose colapsed and cooked the engine. The machine shop I took it to ruined the head, so I bought an e32 and stole the m30. I rebuilt that and then got married and the car sat. I joined the Airforce and the car sat. I went home a few months ago and stripped the poor carcas of all the good bits for my current car. The m30, m90 and getrag 265 all lay in wait in a garage in central NY.
