    my new e30

Just spent the last week or so going through and fixing a ton of little things. Still in the works, so please bear with me. Its an 84 318i, 5spd. When I bought it, front turn signals didn't work (wiring), brake lights didn't work (wiring AND brake light switch), horn didn't work (relay), odometer didn't work (still doesn't, its on the list), shifter bushings were (are) shot, the car barely ran (ignition grounding problem, I call it more of this guy's "custom" work) and the cat was broken up inside, but you couldn't hear it over the "race" muffler. Its definitely a work in progress but its come far in a week.

The huge chrome 18s (gag!) are before I bought it, and I pleaded with the guy to just replace them with something not quite as hideous. I'm looking at picking up a set of bottle caps this week some time.

Please note changes have been made since these pics. I've removed the chrome foil decal from the grill, removed the M3 badge and removed the turbo badge. Looking to tuck the diving boards at some point immediately following Christmas.

that is the first time I ever seen foil tape used in such a fashion. Good luck in your un-pimping process.

        All three pictures delivered

        #1 wheels
        #2 chrome grills
        #3 TURBO badge

WOW, this will be one of the rare cars that improve as you remove things! I'm trying to picture an M10 powering those 18s.

Edit: started with the pictures, then moved to the description.

Hey, it was $800.00, and driveable. In fact, I was able to get an MA inspection sticker. Its very solid for its age and since I'm 100% DIY I like to think I have pimp xray vision that lets me see past such things. I still hate the wheels on it now - american racing, but at least they are round.

As for the M10 powering those, it might have - down hill, with the wind, drafing a big rig. ;)

Yeah for a solid 84 318 for $800 that's a good price for a beater. I'd have bought it, unpimped it and beat it as a daily. Good luck.

No longer stock ride height, rolling as low as a daily driver in New England should without worrying about breaking an oil pan.

Yours was worse off than when I got mine, Im still umpimping it but that comes with money. :)

                      My progress so far:

I realized that "saving" these cars is going to become more frequent as time goes on. Nice to see you doing so.

Interesting save OP, many of us would have written something like that off completely, it will be interesting to see what you can make of an M10-powered donkmobile.
