and no i didnt sell it... the buyer or well the gentleman i was supposed to trade the car to decided it would be professional and appropriate to not respond to my PM's after i told the other interested parties i had to decline their offers... Needless to say i was a little pissed, but im glad it happened. Now the car has a good clutch, a 5 speed on the way, and the other little things are getting fixed including the frame rail. I really love this car and would have hated to see it go and im really glad now that it didnt.

GVWR is the vehicle weight plus the max cargo weight.. e12's should weigh 3000-3200 I'd guess

Yeah, Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is the curb weight of the car, plus 5 150lbs passengers (or whatever they figured a "normal" person to weigh at the time, times number of seats) plus a full tank of gas, plus max rated cargo load in trunk etc.... that is the total capacity of the vehilce.

Like my small 5x8 utility trailer has a GTWR of 2,000lbs.... that dosen't mean it weighs 2,000lbs, that means it is rated (the axle/tires specifically) to hold 2,000lbs, but the trailer itself weighs around 450lbs, as such it gives a useful load of ~1,550lbs.

I like the old shark nose BMW's, E30 seems to be one of the last to carry on the leaning forward front end that I really like.
