My Christmas Break (long but w/ pics)

After exams I had a month off of school, so I went home and snapped a couple of pictures in the backyard.

Then I deiced to tackle the much overdue rear wheel bearing replacement. Here is the car right before she went under the knife.

After two weeks of trying to separate the bearing we ended up taking it to a local mechanic who happened to have the rod and pipe cap tool. Well putting it back together took some hammering on the half shaft, which worried me. Anyway got it all back together just in time to go back to Clemson (130mi.).

Sixty miles down the road at 4500 rpms (4.10 ftl) I hear a load pop which sends the car into a small slide. Pull to the should and notice the car can no longer move. Inspect the half shaft to find that I had completely shattered the outer CV joint! :( So after 7 hours on the side of the interstate the calvery arrives.

Got the car back to Clemson and ordered a new half shaft from Advanced Auto for $70.00. :D Installed on the car and it runs like new, no more wheel bearing noises.

Though I would share my vacation adventures, thanks for reading and Happy New Year.

Wheels are rare and no longer made Ultralight weaves. They are only one piece though! :( Car is all back together and running well. Now I just need a new master cylinder!
