If you're posting this in response to that KY retards car you missed the point of that thread. The guy was a douchebag - thats why people gave him a hard time. The car was bad but not that bad.

I also don't appreciate the "Have you ever posted pics of your car" attitude. That kind of shit ruins forums - not people being overly critical.

I was thinking the exact same thing. If everyone was nice and only said nice things the world would be boring. This is the kind of stuff that is taught in school these days and by parents so I'm not surprised people are afraid of a little criticism.

Yup. I agree completely. And no disrespect to the drifters out there, but I'm sure they are also subject to critiquing as well. Surely that e-rich guy has had his share before, and he made out alright.

1. Member posts pics of beat up, poorly modded car along with plans that they made up while typing.

2. Members say something like "hey - it's a good start. however, start with maint. first - not wheels and ect ect"

3. OP gets offended and goes into defensive mode - saying how much he knows, "post pics of your car", it's my car I'll do what I want, ect ect

4. Members get a little bit more agressive with their insults

5. OP gets MORE defensive

6. People find personal photos, make gifs, photoshops, ect - hilarity ensues

7. e-rich whines about it in this waste of a post.

You'll also note that humble, mature people post beat up cars and members make kind and useful suggestions - some even offering their own help, cheap parts, tools ect.

The e30 scene used to be kids who are just happy to have a BMW who are real enthusiasts and take several months to several years to build a clean e30. Sure a lot of them are the vanilla flavor 'is' lip with Ronals or something. There are however the ones that go further and make clean euro reps, M-technic 2 cars, 5 lugs and motor swaps. Those cars are worth their weigh in gold.

Now we see a lot of kids who were into imports or mini trucks and pick up a "Beemer" and want to do angle eyes with HID's and sport max wheels with chalk board hoods and zip ties everywhere. They are diluting the car and its history, turning it into just another "tuner car". I can see how the enthusiasts (who have been with e30's since high school, or their big brother had a clean e30) get irritated with this trash.

I have been on this board and bfc since I was 17. I have a lower post count than many of the n00bs on the forum because I didn't waste peoples time with one word posts and check out my sick cut spring threads. Instead I read and absorbed. My best friend in high school got an e30 and we drove the shit out of that car. People talk about function over form... we couldn't afford euro this and IS lip that or Sportmax wheels and filters on sticks. We spent our money on good tires and spent our time driving. When something broke, we fixed it. When something needed maintaining we maintained it. The car got washed regularly because there was a respect for it even though it was just a 90 alpine 325i on stock suspension. We auto xed and were kings of lean. After that I started hanging out with some of R3v's socal best. Every night it seemed we were doing head gaskets or timing belts on someones car out of an inadequate garage in a housing complex where we had to shut the door at 9 to keep the neighbors off our case. We off roaded eta's, went on midnight drives, and had meets weekly. Most of the cars were beat and pretty stock, but we had respect for them. No chalk board this and zip tie that. We even got to enjoy the occasional 5 lug car or M.

All I'm trying to get across in this long post is that the people bitching have their reasons. They remember the good days. When friends would upgrade from their e30 after high school and pick up an e36 m3, only to sell it and go back to the e30 because of its pure driving experience. Hopefully we get a taste of those days again, and honestly I think we do with some of the members on here. However there is a lot of siphoning that needs to be done to find the good threads and the clean IS lipped, basket weaved e30's on bill'ie's and eibachs. Maybe it's boring, but maybe that's what we like. I know i would take a stock plastic bumper IS over half the cars on here, and the s14 over any ls6,7,8 or any other motor swap for that matter. I'm sure the real OG's would agree.
