    Did Some Electrical Work...

Not to the car, to the house.

I had lent my Touring to my dad since his parents were in town visiting and he needed something safe/quiet/etc., to drive them around in.

Forgot that we were supposed to do all this electrical work last week...all I had was the 318i!

    So, we made it work.

Best quote of the day was when the guy at the electrical supply had finished calculating our order and was going to go get the stuff and bring it out to the loading dock. He said "I'll meet you at your truck. Which one is it?". I said "The white one. You'll know it when you see it."

When he got out there he cracked up and swore it would never fit. It all did :).

That spool of 2/0 THHN in the back seat weighed at least 150-200lbs.

We stopped at another electrical supply on the way back to the house to get something that was out of stock at the first place and the guy at the loading dock said "I've never seen a BMW pickup truck before!".

    Hah.

Total value of everything in the car for these photos: $2,000. No joke. That 2/0 copper wire is ~$1.60/ft. and we had over 300ft. of it on the spool :).

    On to the pictures...

Holy shit, that looks a bit overkill for a residential home.

              LOL.

Yes, I was expecting the inspector yesterday to ask to see our weed growing equipment in the attic.

We installed a 200 amp commercial service on the outside of the house, and ran 4 2/0 THHN copper wires across the attic (in 2" EMT) to the new main breaker panel in the laundry room. We didn't even do a reduced ground ()...

I'll throw up some pictures of what the whole shooting match looks like in just a minute.

We're going to do a 125 amp panel in the garage (plenty of power for the compressor, lifts, welder, etc.) as the garage is currently 4-car detached but will eventually (hopefully) be an 8-car footprint with 2 lifts at the back (10 cars worth of storage).

The house is only 1100sqft., but the lot is 15,000+, so at the moment there's plenty of room (over 50' wide by 80' long) next to the house to build whatever. Maybe the next owner will want to build a dedicated home shop? A tennis court with SH lighting? Who knows.

I was gonna make a weed comment, but I thought it may be lacking in the tact dept.

Pictures of the service on the house. There's one pic in there of the 4 strands of 2/0 copper THHN that we pulled (and pushed) through the 2" EMT. That was a LOT easier than I expected.

Shit, Carufel, you should hire ole Farbin to farm weed for you at your new digs. I'm sure he'll positively reinforce each of the plants while watering them. You will be Heinz tomato ketchup. And you, you will be Hunt's tomato catsup.

That 2/0 should make for some killer speaker wire in the e30.

I was thinking of making some DCDouchebag grounding kits with the leftover.

It would be up to his standards, wouldn't it?

Actually, not at all. Just moved the passenger seat forward and it went right in. Didn't even scrape the vinyl.
