Is that a hard top convertible? With wing windows?

Ahh, you are talking about "Wind Wings", in front of the side windows. I do not think that any convertible BMW came with wind wings but my old chevy has them and they are great!

The picture you posted isn't showing today (could be because I'm at work though).
The 1967 Camaro had wing windows, the 1968 didn't. (I had a 1968)
I've seen a couple of pictures of Mtech II convertibles posted on forums,
and some looked like they had those wing windows.
Here's an E30 convertible that has them:
Or is that small forward triangle of window fixed position?
I think they were originally designed to keep the front edge of the
sliding part of the window straight and vertical.
I do like them. I think my 1991 Centurion had them.Last edited by Mark 42; 06-11-2012, 02:24 PM.Comment

I think I am following you now. There is a piece of fixed glass in front of the side window on convertibles. When I think of Wind Wings those triangle pieces of glass would open. The picture you posted isn't showing today (could be because I'm at work though).

Yeah, now we're on the same page. But that might not always be a good thing, I suppose.
Even if they don't open, they'll help reduce the wind at higher speeds.
But I agree - it really is cool to have them pivot open to use as deflectors, or for just a little
ventilation (I used to lock my car with them slightly open on a car I had which had a part open position).
On some cars you can pivot them past 90° to act like scoops (a cool feature).
So, do all of the E30 convertibles have that extra triangle?
I guess I could just do a google images search, but I've already asked so many questions... why not.)Comment

Thanks Freeride!
Denny... I have been trying to come up with a red & yellow racing stripe pattern. I'd like to do the German flag colors as a color scheme (like racing livery).
I was going to do the Gulf Racing Livery, but am leaning towards Black, Red & Yellow now.
I was thinking either a yellow racing stripe with two thin red bands, or the opposite.
I never considered going with the same width.
My wife keeps asking "Why do all your ideas look like race cars?
I couldn't think of an answer, and seriously, all I could come up with was "because?"Comment
