^^ yup norcal seems to be growing like mad. i hope we can get the NE growing that fast but the current economic issues will surely put a damper on it.

John builds a mean cage. This car was actually his own that he built the cage in and then sold to me as he didn't have room/time/money to build it all the way. I got the car as a bare shell with cage and parts of an engine (missing harness/airbox/all kinds of stuff). He sells the cage kits for like $1,075 and has installed over 30 cages in E30's in NorCal in the past 2.5 years. This class is growing fast!!

If I'm ever out in Cali, I'll definitely take her for a spin. Fine work!

    My '90 SpecE30 Racecar...

Well, I have spent the past 4 months secretly preping this car for the 2009 season of NorCal SpecE30 racing. After running successfully in my first event last weekend, I decided to share these pics with you guys.
My cage is kinda unique (built by John at Evil Genius Racing), it is .120" wall steel (standard is .080") for added weight/strength (spec E30's tend to be under weight) and has extra bracing aswell. It has nascar bars on both sides so I can run a pass seat for instructors or ride alongs. I plan to run this car all season and possibly rent it out as an Arrive and Drive aswell. If anyone is interested in getting into SpecE30 and wants to rent the car for a day of NASA fun, just let me know!
    Onto the pics.

    On track at Infineon:

    Momo head restraint seat...

    checking pressures before my race...

    Rear section of cage.

    Pass compartment area

    Aluminum door panels (thanks Brendan!)

    After a bath...

    another...

Ready to Qualify in the rain...

And finally how I left for the track friday morning... Auburn's first snow in a LONG time!

    Comments/Questions welcome!!
PS: the car was cashmirebeige and I covered it in silver vinyl. This was my first wrap, so there are some flaws but I am happy with it overall. The front fenders and trunk are not wrapped and are from other cars. The bumpers are painted aswell as the valances.
PPS: I am not done with the graphics/design work on the car. George Graves is currently working up a custom scheme for me so the car will get some more life in it, as right now it is way too mellow and boring.
Working...
