Please tell me that your hood roundel isnt flaked?

For some reason the E36 hard-top makes me think of a bald head.

I actually have not replaced it for 2 reasons.

        1. E36 replacement emblems are not longer metal backed... they are plastic and don't fit properly. There is a physical gap between the roundel the hood.

        2. Everytime someone sees it, they tell me I need a roundel. That is the main reason not changed ;)

That's a great reason actually. What the hell is up with that? I've installed 10-20 recently on customer cars (and even my own damn cars!) and they pivot on a horizontal axis. Pisses me off. I've got Alpina badges on my E30's right now just because they still provide a badge that fits properly. I've been rolling up electrical tape to go under the top part of the badge to keep it from moving recently, but I hate that. I hate doing anything like that on a customer car.

          end. rant.

Edit: And it isnt just E36 replacements. The defect applies to all of the badges that are the same diameter as the E36 one, so most all BMW hood emblems. I've done tons of cars and had the same issue.

I didn't realize it affected all of them. I haven't put roundels on anything except E36 in years. Really does suck. Save a quarter per roundel for BMW and now they don't fit!

I need to scrape off the final little bit and just get an overlay off ebay...

Lower quality= Gay, but anyway that is one of the nicer E36's I have seen, the color and the hard top make it look really good.

You have a good point. My rant. Why do they skimp on a quarter a roundell? I know that they make millions of them so it saves a bit but why not add $.50 to the pricetag? they would make money and I don't think the buyer would care about fifty cents tacked on to a 40 grand car.

Unfortunately, it's little things like that that save companies millions.

As much as I hate it, I would rather see them cut costs on little things like that than go bankrupt.
