Thanks. I'm surprised how many negative people there are on here.

no one was even remotely negative, you have a fuckn rust hole in the roof. Im suprised its going this well.
sometimes you just have to realize when you have an E-bimmer, Ive done it twice. 400 dollars for a running car is great, and thats just what you got.
anyways Im out.Comment

i think that if you like the car and are willing to put the effort to bring it back. Than its totally up to you. But make sure to do it right. I like to see people save e30s.sigpicComment

All depends on how much work you are willing to put into it. If not, then part it.1985 M10b18. 70maybewhpoffury. Over engineered S50b30 murica BBQ swap in progress.

i would not recommend trying to restore that car. i have one just like it right now. think of all the time and money you are going to invest making it look good. all that time and money could go into making a car in better condition go fast and handle well. if the rust on the roof is that bad then it must be bad other places like the trunk and under the carpets in the front.
does this car have a lot ob bondo on it?
i started sanding a few cracked spots down on my car thinking they were just small patches and found that my car has about 50lbs of bondo on it. what a piece of shit. but i dont care i just want something to drive till i can afford a nicer e30 again.

Shit did your friend lube your ass up when he fucked it. That things a P.O.S You should have been able to find a much nicer one for the price. It better have low milage and a hella strong motor. The rust on the roof looks worse than suface. Come one CL has nicer ones for that price all the time.
I got my first one for that price and it was a hell of a lot better shape.84 318I Delphin RIP

Its got all after market springs and shocks, a chip, a sport clutch, new sway bars and semi-new tires. No bondo. It runs great now that I fixed the ECU, and handles great. The only work that needs to bee done is major exterior work, like small amounts of grinding, new valences, paint, and bumpers, but 99% of all the work that needs to be done is cosmetic. (I'm not aiming for a perfect looking car, just a simple E30 that drives great.) I'm glad I have it and wouldn't trade it for any of the less than or at $400 E30's on craigslist I have seen in the last 2 years. I'm satisfied.

Whats the best way to fix the valence for short term? I was thinking either fiberglassing it or just gorilla glue-ing it.
