in theory. its never as easy as it sounds. we all know the work involved with an engine swap. but as far a price, sub 900 is very realistic.

that sounds like a pretty skimpy build to me... well motorwise at least. I guess it depend on the condition of the parts but I guess if they were in good condition it's realistic... maybe.
some junkyards in indiana are kinda pricey... maybe that's why im a little skeptical.

I dont see this as a joke. You can reliably turbo your car for <$3000 it wont make a ton of power but itll still be a ton of fun. Go buy the book "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell and read that 2 or three times and youll have a slight understanding of turbochargers and how the system works.

You can check out e30tech.com for more turbo stuff. Theres some good examples of what to do and a lot of examples of what NOT to do on that site.

Theres a huge 24V following on this site. You should do some serious reading here and e30tech and figure out what you think will work best for ya.

You can always go 24v n then turbo later ;)

Good luck and nice looking car dude!

wow i feel like such a fool after reading this. who knew it was so simple and cheap?
and hows that 265 working behind it?

you have a nice clean car...DONT half ass an engine swap or a junkyard turbo. Save until you can afford to do it correctly the first time.

i fail. my post is stupid and will be redacted.

but here is what i've come up with.
                                Vanos m50 swap into e30

m50(from a totaled manual e34) from a neighbor(German car specialist)- he said 250 if I wanted it. this would include the, harness, trans(Getrag 250), ecu and throttle cable 170k on it.
E36 engine mounting bracket(local salvage yard)- 50 for both.
E36 rad and hoses (salvage yard again)- 175
                                Ix booster, 40
                                e-fan= 250
So far: $820 with e28 mounts, using stock m50 header and a sledge hammer to shape things.
NOTE: A local shop had quoted me at 300 for the full exhaust.
W exhaust,$1120. But that is stupid.

I would re use stock e30 driveshaft with getrag 250, and m20 fan and fan clutch.
