because OP didnt obtain a custom white balance... its green because mercury vapor is a green-white.
metal halide will provide a more white light while high pressure sodium is orange



i was going to post this video from my phone but dont understand the 3g2 format. in the vid, a friend and i hooked a HPS and MV bulb to an under powered balast and ignited the light with the arc from a grill lighter. fun stuff... if that sort of thing fasinates you.
