    TJ's 86' 325E Turbo

Its been done before, its been done better. Here is my 1986 325E automatic (for now).

My family has had two other BMW in the past. 1990 E30 325i Auto which was totaled in an accident and donated some parts to this project. A 1994 325i e36 which is a current yard ornament with blown engine.
I am a full time line mechanic at an independent shop in Georgia. I have access to shop, tooling, and some experienced drag racers to my assistance.

This has been a loose cannon project where things have taken several different turns through progress thus far. The endgame goals are just as unknown. While I daydream I see it doing Autocross, I see it launching at the strip, I see it on the skid pad drifting. I see it cruising down the highway. Will it? Should It? Can I? Will I?

I am starting this thread because I have come to the realization that I wont even be able to keep up with the details of what has taken place along with the future things to still take place. Realizing the forums sometimes disappear I need to organize offline but selfish of me if I don't at least make an attempt to share back to one of many resources which have shared much with me. Over the coming months I will try to develop this thread. I will try to monitor and follow up with serious inquiries, I do encourage general discussion that could be advantageous to my progress.

Not a great acceleration time, lot of wheel spin and sloppy automatic shift. When u get it right it's 0-60 5.3sec

I'll post back when I can, between work as a mechanic full-time and family man, this car.... I'm trying. Have fun, be safe and thanks for looking!

Interested in hearing how that turbo does up top. Should be really responsive.

It really is. So it starts making boost around 2200rpm. Getting full boost by 3200 all depending on load.

At highway speeds full boost is on tap all day.
The 3.15 gear is a bit tall, but it keeps the motor loaded for fast/instant spool for long pulls. I think the 3.46 could be better trade out for touch more acceleration.

From a dead stop/idle there is some lag there. It's very very reasonable for a turbo car, especially one making major gains.

            Thanks for the interest
