My first car, a rusty e30... bad idea!? (lots of pics)

Been lurking some months here now without posting and though why not start posting with some pics!

So I got my license about a year ago and with a really tight budget decided on buying something that I would just trash around and throw away as my first car... or so I thought .

Anyway found a really cheap 320i 1990 that was cheap enough for my first car, interior was really minty while the body was rusty as hell, wierd thing is that it isn't that bad beneath.

Here's some pics a couple of months after I bought it, not done much really except lower it with lowtec springs and shocks (60/35) change some fluids,
and fixed the brakes that didn't work properly in the back.
Oh and also a new windscreen (previous one had lots of cracks).

Someone did a nice paintjob around the antenna :puppy:

    Following things got fixed:

All rust from the body is fixed.
    Dents filled in.
    Antenna removed
Body is painted! (mirrors, trunk and roof wasn't painted as they were in okay condition.)
    Sparco wheel
    New mats
    Front and back strutbraces.
New Hellas on the front also smoked indicators on the front, as well as white indicators on the sides.
    New plates.
    Summer wheels mounted.

    How it is now:

    What's on the menu:
    New grills
3,73 LSD 25% on it's way from germany (thank you ebay! :))
Searching really hard some nice seats, still don't know if I'm gonna go for racing chairs or some recaros.
Need new rims, any suggestions? Rota is a nono right?
I was really close on getting some nice alpinas but they got away...

    What I'm planning on:

    Shortshift with new bushes
    New bushes all over.
Turbo or engine swap? Still haven't decided what's best for me, I just want something driftable :).
    Tinted windows.

I'm quite satisfied with the looks right now just the rims that need an upgrade.

I'm just open to suggestions and your thoughts!

    So what's the verdict?!

That rust was ferocious... was it all surface rust?

I love the color, and looks like you've definitely rescued it. For rims, look into Hartge 16's.

Not all of it, both front sidefenders got replaced and as well as new wheel edges on the back.

Some Hartge's would be awesome, just need to find a nice pair.

It's off temporarly cause I needed to work on the plate where hatrack (or whatever it's called) is, cause it was bent to hell by the previous owner that tried to fit a couple of speakers. He did a shit job so I had to attack it with a dremel.

I see, maybe picasa doesn't like hotlinking.

Here's a temporary link to "my gallery" then in the meanwhile.

Yea it is one, don't remember what brand I'll have to check that later...
It's some german brand, I'll attach a pic and the name of the store I bought it from.

I'm getting an LSD soon so that will help tremendously, and increase the tirepressure on the rear tires for less traction.
Do you have any tips on what to do to make it more driftable on tarmac?
Maybe some technique? I think I may be too gentle with the car :p
