My Official: Mtech-1, 323i Build thread! [56K NOO WAI]

OK about time I started an actual progress thread, so I can keep everything in one place.

I'll try and include any updates as often as possible.

    Some info on the car:
    1985 (09/1984 build date) e30 323i.
    Original BMW achatgrun-metalic paint
    2 door
    Manual
    Crank windows
    No sunroof
    CRACK FREE DASH

Essentially stock when I got it.
So Lets start with the beggining:

I purchased it in January 2007 as my 1st car when I was 17. Here's how she looked rolling into my driveway.

Fucking clean. A few issues, but nothing that can't be fixed.

New Clutch new tires and new timing belt when purchased

Gene Turbo exhaust system, with OEM chrome tips

First load of goods to be installed (Most of which I purchased before The car even arrived lol)

    Lights:

    Stereo:

    Couple of before/after pics:

The super fun Installation process! saved myself $270 by doing all work myself, that was a fun weekend...

    The new Head unit

Hacked up one of my 6 stacker cassette Holders into an ipod holder/ tray thing.
Plus made my own (p)leather hand brake and gear boots.

Off to the rice store  lol:

    New seats:

Steering wheel, Shift knob and MISSILE SWITCHES!!!!11

    Airhorns and boss kit

The new Badges i ordered from overseas. Bought the wrong size so ordered new OE Badges
So now i have the blue ones on order...

    Before and after shift knob:

Overall before after pics of the interior.
    (before seats)

Fabricated some brackets for the seats:

I hated the seats! They had to go, They were so uncomfortable and I soon realised what this whole "purist" thing was about..

    MARCH 2007

    Painted bottlecaps:

    Installed Push button start:

Changed up the back a little. Much better but I still wanted something more comfortable nad period correct.

    JUNE 2007

Been pranged a couple of times (not at fault!!)

This was from the PO but was also repaired under the same claim:D

The serious damage was all covered by insurance,
But I threw a couple of hundred $ at the shop to do a full body paintless dent repair,
taking care of all the small dents and dings from the PO.
Meaning now, aside the occasional paint chip,
my 1985 BMW body and paint are near immaculate!

    more little things:
    1st, Debadged the rear

LED boot lights with hidden wiringl

Charcoal grey Taylored floor mats front and back
    no pic atm

Started lookinf for some real recaros like these:

Got lucky and found some wheels in an old ass thread on DTM:

    Some glory shots:

Dent in my new badge :(

    JANUARY 2008:

Bought an early model euro rear plate filler.

Also found my new interior (OE e30 RECARO seats from a JPS car)

    Ordered some euro plates:

    MAY 2008

Total barn find. Mtech-1 kit for $250 AU!!!! Missing left hand side skit and no boot spoiler though. Overall pretty good nick but a few issues that can be taken care of:

Added some Euro Smily elipsoids somewhere along the line:

    OCTOBER 2008

    Bought and installed these:

    and this:

    Bought some new wheels:
    Simmons V4 15x7 4x100 CB 57.1
To be completely rebuilt and repainted silver.

    Full simmons build thread here:

    DECEMBER 2008.

Sold the 16x7s to fund the simmons rebuild and repainted my bottles again,

    FEB-MARCH 2009

Purchase minty fresh front door cards to match the rear qtrs.

    Along with:
    e28 mtech-1 rear spoiler.
mtech-2 steering wheel (the small one)
    Lowtec 50/60mm dropo springs

Finally got round to swapping the door cards and grey carpet over.
And decided to go back to OE tail lights.

Some close ups after A long cruise through the country:

    APRIL 2009.

Swapped the Charcoal Taylored mates for some Black ones to compliment the new interior.

Coule more shots in the country:

Bit more progress on the wheels: :D

That thing will look DD titties when you get the kit on and suspension in. Was a great find - it looked like it was in amazing condition.

What are the plans for the drivetrain? You still got that boosted M50 E30 you picked up?

+1 on correctting the ri-...I mean you old ways(z.b. the hideous jewel smoked taillamps). Let us know how the 60/50 lowtecs ride with new Billys. I have the 40/35 w/ old billy's on my mtech1 right now and they're ok....but I could use more, may go with their coilover kit if I keep the car. Otherwise they will go on my Touring I plan on buying next.

I just changed my opinion of this car so many times in the last couple of minutes. I liked it, but then the taillights went on, I like your BBS's, and then the green bottlecaps went on, etc. The M-tech kit might win me back though

I'm prety happy with the power my little m20 makes, I'll probably invest alot more money in handeling before I start on power.
I'd love an S14 one day, but I'm sure you know the chances of finding one of those for sale down here! Not fucking likley lol
I'd like to keep the engine old school, so I was thinking Stroker, or maybe an M30 swap.
Or I could just take the easy road and go 24v... Not sure yet.

Haha, some of those parts I've been saving for years! I've had the Mtech-1 for like a year and a half and it's not even painted!!

Go on say it.. RICER MODZZZZ *hangs head in shame*

The suspension is amazing! My old set up was very worn out so I dont have much to compare this new one to. But it's like driving a completely different car.. You just feel so much more planted on the ground. The difference in stability is incredible.

The tail lights are on my desk right now. I'll probably just stick them up on eBay, no reserve. They had a good run

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has them, and most of them stink!
The BBS's had to go, I'm on to bigger and better things! (erm well not bigger, but wider!)
