Well, that sucks. I feel some moral obligation to support engineering students simply for their motivation, regardless of their apparent level of social stupidity. That being said, it is one thing to get into engineering school and something entirely different to finish. I wish you good luck, brosef.

if it weren't for all the prereqs and dynamics classes i'd be done in 2 semesters if that long
its just so much math -algebra calulus trig, etc etc
dynamics-thermal, metal, fluid etc etc
i just wanna build something ahhhhhhhhhhh
and thats just the motorsports shitComment

I'm far more than just a mechanic, chups. You prepare food, how does that in any way qualify you to even attempt to TALK about designing anything? The fact that you're in some community college engineering program means absolutely nothing, as is evident by your complete lack of understanding of everything.
I have a lot of friends who are engineers, and they're all to a man very good people. The trouble with engineers however is that they're given a set of parameters to meet, and they will do that. They will never consider things like... oh, you had this bolt flange cast here, instead of 3 inches further to the right, which means to get the bolt behind it out I'll need to spend another 7 hours removing other parts.
They don't consider factors outside of their given workset, and it takes hours of discussion to convince them that it's an issue.Comment

The engineers with which you work are either assholes or fucktards (read: lousy engineers).
You do make a good point, though. What you are describing is what a good engineer should be able to do. Anybody can follow instructions and read load tables. A good engineer does far more than that.
The problem is that the level of intelligence, skill, and abstract visual thought in today's engineering schools is very low when compared to those from 30-50 years ago. I can honestly say that of the thirty or so civil engineers who graduated in my class I would only trust three of them to design a facility which I used on a regular basis.
You need to find better engineers, they do exist.

BIN
IUPUI is a state college dumbass
and you are a mechanic not an engineer if you were you'd understand things like stress levels and why it's a better idea to have something cast in an inconvenient place with higher fatigue forgiveness as opposed to elsewhere. grow up admit your defeat and log back on in a few days with a new attitude.Comment

So wait. Your telling us that someone who can't even weld none the less know rod lengths or piston heights is in school to design race cars?
I'm going to school for paint, collision repair, welding, fab and have the chance to add on high performance welding/fab, frame cutting(widing, shortening, lengthening) it takes a lot of know how and very exact math. You couldn't even weld or measure you plenum. How are you going to design and build actual race cars?Originally posted by Beej '86 325esevery time an M-tech 1 spoiler is destroyed, a baby seal dies.87 325:83 jetta coupe:99 volvo c70:99 volvo s70Originally posted by JparkrThe last thing we need are more of the retards on here thinking they are engineers too.Comment
