Just take a propane torch to them, it will cure them in 5 min.Leave a comment:

Not much heat gets to the tail pipes. The exhaust coming out of the head is fucking hot. I think it should do the trick.
My problem here is not the paint curing, it was not dry period. I just did not let it sit long enough before touching it and the paint got smudged.
Paint must be completely dry before curing
Heat to 250°F (121°C) for 30 minutes
Cool for 30 minutes
Heat to 400°F (204°C) for 30 minutes
Cool for 30 minutes
Heat to 650°F (343°C ) for 30 minutes
Do your tail pipes reach 650F?Leave a comment:

Just going off experience, I painted the stock muffers on my Ducati with that paint (in black) and it never got hot enough to cure.Leave a comment:

Says here the paint dries before curing. So I just put it on to thick to fast, or did not let it dry long enough. The curing is done after drying.
On the Vehicle
Paint must be completely dry before curing
Run at idle for 10 minutes
Cool for 20 minutes

Will get hard enough to handle? I said something on the bottle about running the painted part on your motor at idle twice for 20 minutes and then one for a period of time at normal driving conditions, but if it does not even get dry enough to handle how do you bolt the manifolds up?Leave a comment:

Did a few things today. Cleaned a few intake parts and painted the manifolds. Base coat of VHT super high temp primer, and then VHT super high temp aluminum. Sadly I must have ether put the paint on to fast, or just not waited long enough for them to dry, because when I picked them up to move them to a safe shelf the paint got fucked up. I guess I will just let them cure for a few weeks, and then give them a quick light sand to take the smudges out and a coat of paint.

Next weekend (my one day off every week :( ) I plan on switching the electronics from the m20 MAF to the m30 MAF.
I need to make a BLUNT order.Leave a comment:

I thought about it some more after I put up that post, and I think I am wrong about having to hack up the shifter plate to bring it forward. Are your purchased mounts positioning the 260 tranny so the shifter platform has to be moved? It'll change sure, but not drastically.
Much rather do the E21 323 transmission and not hack up the tranny tunnel/etc. Considerably cleaner and largely plug and play. Still can be found cheaply if you are patient. Hope things are progressing smoothly for you.
PS if you wanted a SoCalVintage Tshirt let me know, John usually has a few left over to sell.
I dont think i will have to hack up the tunnel, at least I hope not. I think the 5 speed from the 318i should be small enough that I can just beat the tunnel out a bit with a BFH.
I got my M30 AFM today because race car...
