I tried everything! Fucker did not want to go. It did not help that the cover it self is made out of very soft metal.
I ended up fixing the original cover I had and using it. Progress is underway, but it started raining again!
Ill have pictures up later.

How thick is the bolt? If it's thick enough you can cut a groove in it and use a screw driver to twist it outso the rain has finely stopped for what looks like a few days... and spring brake has started...
i broke a fucking bolt off in the lower crank case cover i just fucking ordered. it already fucking held me up a week, and now it looks like i am going to spend all or most of spring brake waiting for the second one to get here. FFUUUCCKKK! i am so pissed right now.
it is not extractable. already tried that and the extractor bit just eats threw the bolt. fucking bull shit!Leave a comment:

Got some parts in the mail today that will let me continue putting the block back together. I wish it would stop raining!
I spent some time cleaning the alternator the other day. Ill post some pictures later on.
Sunday, and Monday are suppose to be for partially cloudy. Hopefully I will be able to spend some time in my shed.Leave a comment:

Got a very small amount of work done today.
I cleaned up the thermostat housing and put a thermostat in it, and cleaned up a bunch of random brackets along with the alternator bracket.
I really hope I can get more done next weekend!
Fucking rain is pissing me off!

I am having a hard time figuring out how the alternator mounts back onto the alternator bracket correctly. I know it is really easy and I will smack my self in the face when I figure it out.Leave a comment:

Got my new HOMAK BK01032101 3-Drawer Tool Box yesterday. It is raining really hard today, and the rain keeps blowing into my shed sideways while I am working. I can not make any progress till this passes and I get my lower timing cover in the mail some time next week. It looks like I am working steady Monday threw Friday as well.
Sins I could not work on the block, I spent some time wiping my tools down and putting them away in their new home.

I really like this box so fare and it was only about $56 w/ shipping on Amazon.

The sliders seam strong and sturdy, it has good room, and it came with drawer mats.Leave a comment:

I have no plans what so ever on spending any money on a paint job right now. Maybe this winter. When I start a project I commit to it %100 and I do not go spending money randomly on other stuff. That way the project gets done, and the car is coherent.Leave a comment:

DON'T SPEND THE MONEY ON A PAINT-JOB, GET A CAM!

Well I started a new job that pays a lot better then my last job, so I am only working 4 days every week along with going to school for a few hours 5 days a week. I have a good amount of free time to use up, and there is nothing I hate more then not using my time in a positive productive way. ;)Leave a comment:

Got some more work done today. Finished cleaning and painting the block, along with sticking the oil pan back on. I also cleaned the oil filter housing inside and out. Sadly the seal kit for the filter housing I ordered from Blunttech did not show up in the order so I could not put it all back together yet. I think the seals got confused with another part when I placed my order or something.
The drivers side motor mount has one hole that is not quite right as well, so I will have to do some work on that next weekend.

Miss matched holes

Till next weekend.Leave a comment:

Got some more work done today.
I took some more stuff off the motor. Right now I am still trying to get the front crank shaft cover off, but I am having a hard time pulling part of the crank shaft pulley off. The oil pump pulley came off easy. Ones that sucker is off I can finish cleaning and painting the block.
Whats the best way to get the freeze plugs out?
Valve cover cleaned and painted.

Cleaned off the oil sensor thingamajig.

I get sick pleasure out of doing all this cleaning and reassembly! lol
It really is satisfying.
Sadly the rain cut my progress short today. Hopefully it clears up a bit tomorrow.
Cheers guys!Last edited by deutschman; 03-13-2011, 11:03 PM.Leave a comment:

Got to cleaning the motor up today. Started stripping it down more, cleaned the oil pan and painted it, and cleaned the top end off a bit.
I am going to continue tomorrow.
Bottom end

Top end dirty!

Top end clean!

Oil pan cleaned and painted

I realized I forgot to get a few things from Steve when I put in my last order. Who needs a alternator belt anyways? hahaha
It is also nice to see what a dishwasher can do to a oil pump! I am going to have to sneak more parts into the dishwasher later on.

ill have to check that out.Sorry about such a late reply to this, BUT....
The fremont maaco can hook you up with a seriously decent paintjob for around 5-600. If you do most of the prep yourself you can get out of their super cheap. The guy who i sold my basketweaves to had gotten his bronzit e30 painted there for 700 he said and maaco did most of the prep. His car looked new. Once I get my car sorted I am either getting it repainted there or the one in vacaville (literally 4 blocks from my house).
