Got me a shell

I have been searching for a rust FREE shell to swap my M50 into. One of my friends has one 10 minutes away. I sealed the deal other last night for 250, he keeps the m20 and STD I get blown tranny for core (worth 60 bucks for me)

It is a '87 4dr (I love 4D baby) from Cali, never seen a winter in it's life. Shop kept till this month now sits on a concrete slab under a tarp.

I am not new to working on the E30 owned 5 to date. I am new to doing the M50 swap, I did TONS of reading to get the parts needed.

Plans:

Engine, M50tub25(bought) Tranny, Getrag 260 5spd with Z4 shifter(bought) E24 "aka" 635CSi LSD rearend (own car) Radiator, mishimoto (bought) I did the e34 oil sump and oil pan gasket already. I am also doing the front and rear main crank seals too. (head when it is in) I also would like to swap for the s50US cam valves and a chip.

I need an ECU too, since I am planning on a turbo can I go around the 413 ECU for something easer to get?

I have GC coilover already with vintage OZ baskets

Plastic bumpers and turboing down the road(own a garrett) megasquirt fuel management?

Comments and wisdom welcome, if anyone thinks the e24 rear end is a bad idea let me know what to get! I really don't want to tear my 6 apart.

(Time date, I posted the last post on bimmerfest two days ago, this post is current to my build time)

So I thought I would go over and start some work

I started by cleaning and throwing away useless crap like the trunk panels and tar flooring. I just wanted to get her hassle free.

I jacked it up and put 4 stands under it to make life better.

I then took off exhaust from headers back and the the heat sheild off to work on the shaft and rearend. But got bored so I moved to the bay and took out the SUPER clean radiator, drained coolant and auto tranny lines. Removed the ECU and wiring from inside the car. I also got most of the block free.

Tomorrow will (depending on rain hold out) be get bolts to put all four doors and trunk back on. The owner before me threw away the bolts but saved the used spark plugs, go figure?

If it is not raining I will get engine, tranny and rearend out.

I am really sorry about not having pictures for the start of the build. I will find my camera tomorrow I hope

On a cool note, from the catalytic converter and radiator I might break in the profit zone! Local guy who buys them will give me 150 easy for the catalytic. So with the cat and rad I am sure I will get close to the 250 I spent on the E30

was gunna suggest you make a build thread over here. youll end up asking questions anyway and apart from me and steve (neither having running cars) theres limited 24Ve30 knowledge. and no anstead here. lol. wish id done my build thread here instead but i wasnt a member here when i started.

I think it is 3.76 or 3.56.

There is a really nice '90 318is 5spd that just came into the local pick and pull, what about that one?

Also does anyone know how to remove the plastic bumpers? It has front bumper damage but the valance and the rear bumper are mint.

Update: went for the 260 getrag Saturday, got out all but one inverted trq bolt. Snapped two extensions The yard closed so Monday I'll have that.
