Oh, my plans are to get the car running. Then swap in the m20. Slam it on it's nuts. See what kind of wheels I can fit in it. Figure out how to go with single lights. Tuck the bumpers. And part the rest of the E30. :D

Haha, well this is what happened: Friend called me back saying he found a full front clip for $500. Everything from the firewall forward. Not including labor and putting it on the chassis machine. Not worth it.

I checked out the E21. It's mostly unmolested, which I love! It has the little four cylinder CIS and a five speed. Fuel pump is out of the car, the guy said that's the problem and has another one. Also it's hardwired directly from the battery, to a switch, to the pump. It's been sitting for about a year. He's a old retired guy. He even said I can fix the car in his driveway. I probably wont since it's so close to our shop. I should be picking it up in about a week.

Buy e21, install eta engine. Be a drift star superhero. Everyone wins. You must repeat millenium falcon sticker.

Talked to a guy I know who's in the auto body business. Says a clip alone would cost $900. Call me a cheap bastard, but no non-M3 E30 is worth that. We were talking in the late afternoon, but he said he'll call up a guy who usually deals with "low-priced cars."

Oh and I have no beef with CIS Jetronic's, I actually daily drive my 16v GTI and never had a problem with it's fuel system, just everything else. ;D

euro e21 320/6 (carb) and 323i (the CIS one, with Kjet) come with M20s. i think you only got those on the states as grey market cars.

Yeah, the silly CIS version. Although I wont get much bragging rights there's comfort in knowing that it's been done before.

The guy called me back. He lives in some trailer park clear across town. I'm going tomorrow to check it out.

Yeah, there have been M20's inside of E21's.

Not an E30, but its pretty close.

Well a E21 that I can afford popped up. Bad fuel pump he says. I'm waiting on pictures to decide if I want to drive out and see it. I've only done a quick wiki search but it says the high model has a 2.0 m20. So I guess my eta engine could fit in it?! The wheel base is almost identical to the e30.

I'm going to have to do more research while I wait.

Sigh, I agree with you guys, but I still want to see what they would say, even if it's the same thing.

I had a beer with the guy I crashed into, he said he's cutting everything in front of the wheel wells and tubing it. I guess that's cool?

I found out you could request a refund for your registration if it costs more than $100. I'm still checking local forums and craigslist daily for another shell. I HAVE to have an E30. I've never had so much fun working and driving a car. If I get something else, I'm hoping you guys will kill/flame me.

Active, I understand you want to save your E30, but the strut is moved back. The car is totaled. It was an early model. Throw in the towel and find another chassis, and put all your stuff in it.

Dont lose the fire, and keep us all updated.

No offense but I'd rather wait and see what some auto body shops say. It'll be a while until I can find another E30 in my price range again.

bro, just get a new chassis. and maybe do an s50-52 swap. that frame is way beyond repairing and then putting a V8 into it.
