    Tribe IDP Quest's LeMons Build

Thought I was going to use her as a parts car for my '88 SETA build, was convinced over a couple beers to run the 2010 LeMons event at Stafford CT.

This is what Craigslist and $400 will get you... a non-running '86 ES.

Here's the link to the build expense worksheet: Google Docs Worksheet

The car doesn't run (no spark) but we have some ideas on why that is.

Went to check the CPS on the bellhousing. When I pulled it, oil gushed out of the hole... :???:
Thinking bad rear seal, so the engine and trans have to come out.
Hoping the oil kept the sensor from generating a signal and thus no spark. We'll find out shortly.

Also, if you see something you want off the car, PM me.
I'll make some serious deals. Things already gone:
    - M-Tech Wheel
    - Front Seats
    - BBS Side skirts
    - Front interior roof panel
    - Complete carpet

That's a pretty sweet pickup for $400! I'm looking forward to seeing how things progress!

Very good pickup, looks like you may have made back your purchase price with the selling of the unsed parts.

          It's a jumper!

After about an hour of prep, we jerked the motor out of the car.
That's Ryan C looking all tough and man-like.

Waiting on a rear seal and oil pan gasket, so we're in a holding pattern on getting her running.
Interior is completely gutted, hopefully wires weren't accidentally cut in the process.

                Full disclosure

In the spirit of LeMons rule compliance, I've added a spreadsheet in the OP to detail the team expenses.
The total will be split between the drivers, we're planning on 6 drivers total.

Quick pic of me and Russo in the middle of pulling all the glass out of the car.

Now we know why it's a $400 car...

On top on not running, the passenger-side footwell and floor pan is swiss cheese.
Knew that the car was hit on the front right, but whoever did the repair did a shit job.
Looks like some cutting and welding will be done before the motor goes back in.

                  Hope the chassis is straight...

had the same problem with my ETA's Oil leak, took off the bellhousing and about a quart of oil came out.

Thought it was the rear main seal, turned out the oil pan bolts loosened up, in the rear causing it too leak into the bell housing.

If that's how bad the oil was when you pulled the sensor out, you'll prolly need a new clutch, seeing as you can't saturate the clutch in oil and have it properly grab again.

That E30 is to nice for lemons!! Time to bust out the sledge hammers.

Also don't weld the holes, a piece of license plate and some pop rivets go a long way!!

                          BTW the judges love Scotch

lots of good progress made on the LeMons car today; I got the sunroof skeleton removed, JP removed rot from the firewall and passenger side floor and began the welding by repairing the hole in the floor with about $2 of sheet metal and a piece of the sunroof frame for bracing. That kid's got made welding skills, y0! We also ripped off the PS pump to reduce weight, things that could possibly break, and generally simplify our ride. I can't wait to start getting this thing put back together and out on the track!
