Project 'vert.....

Finally! After a long wait. Got it done, inspected, and driving. All we're missing is the fog light blanks, which one came in today, so should be on this weekend.
Sorry for the blurry-ass cell pics. Camera died and I'm too lazy to charge it.

Once it's completely done I'll snap some nice shined up pics. The interior is still full of dust from the body shop.:roll:Leave a comment:

So...apparently the 'vert fenders are different from regular fenders so that set us back. We had to dig out the old wrecked fender and have the bottom 8 inches welded onto the new fender. The rad support and all is painted and straight. All it's waiting on is that fender and paint on the 2 fenders, bumper, and hood.
Estimated time finished at body shop: Next week. The shop is closed Fridays so we lose a whole day, otherwise it'd be done Friday. Hopefully everything goes together easy from now on.
I rolled by tonight and they had it parked outside, no pics 'cause it was dark. I'll try and get some maybe tomorrow. It's epic B&A. Looks brand new, as far as the rad support goes!

Thanks man! We're looking at possibly Monday, probably Tuesday. Then all the fun DMV crap with getting tags, etc, unless dad got on that already. I'd rather avoid that mess.
That e28 is going for a full restoration this winter, after the 335 is done. Gonna replace every body panel that bolts on, doors, fenders, etc with straight ones that are absolutely ding free, then repaint it Delphin Metallic. It'll have a thread on mye28.com for sure.
Anywho, back to the 'vert....should have it cruisin' by the end of the week, hold out for pics soon!Leave a comment:

I know it's been a loooong time since I posted to this but the car is finally in the shop getting worked on. They got the rad support all welded in and straight and all the body panels ready to roll on. Hopefully making paint tomorrow. The guy said it should be ready Monday afternoon to take home!
Cell pics warning!

I know it's been a while since I've updated this thread. The car is a present sitting at the body shop, last in a long line to be worked on. Once they do the aligning and welding I'm taking the car back to so some filling and paint prep, then they will paint, as I have no paint materials yet...
Hopefully they get it drivable though, we'll see....Leave a comment:

So, in between the intermittent rain we're having, I had time to go out and mock up the front of the car. Don't worry, the headlights are in the trunk, they won't bolt in as the mounting points are wayy off.
Here's a before and after pic comparison, thus far....

....and the project lineup:

Right to left:
1984 325e/335i swap in progress.
1992 e30 318i restore.
1985 e28 535i re-eurofication/restore.
The 318 goes to the body shop tuesday, Aug 2nd. Hopefully emerging a few weeks later like new. It's a top notch body shop of which we know the owners, they do KILLER work!!
Until then!Leave a comment:

Word, that looks great! I need to replace the shocks in the 'vert. It's very bouncy so I was thinking Billie sports all around with H&Rs. I just want it to fill the fender wells, not really tuck, except in the back a little bit.Leave a comment:
