    Erict's e30 project......... thus far.

I have been trolling these pages for a long time now. My metrosexual life partner, Mike a.k.a. white325is, has a project log going on over on e30tech for me..... but I thought I would share with all of you here on r3v. Heres a brief over view of progress so far.

I bought this car a little over a year and a half ago. It was pretty beat and had a horrid square headlight conversion.

The interior was shot and aside from the seats and a very cracked dash... most parts were missing or broken. Most of the progress I haven't really documented up until recently. But I replaced the dash, kick panels, consoles, carpet, seats, rear dash etc..... pretty much the whole interior. The started to focus on other things.

Heres a pic from my first engine swap..... I ditched the eta m20b27 in favor of an m20b25.

This was at the time the greatest thing I could of done for the car. Shortly after this I installed a set of h&r sport springs and beefed up my oil pan a little.......

Then all was well for a little while as I went on to just mainly replaced routine stuff on the e30. Also swapped out the 2.93lsd for a 3.73lsd. Then I came across this.

I must say I love having the 24v swap. What I like most is how much smoother the m50tu is. Of course the broader torque band and improved throttle response is very nice as well. After taking the 24v plunge I turned my attention to the suspension and brakes. This time replacing every bushing, Upgraded to all uuc stainless brake lines where the rubber hoses were, rebuilt the calipers, New pbr ceramic pads with brembo blank rotors. Installed a set of ground control adjustable coils with their camber/caster plates up front and an ireland engineering rear camber kit as well. Also installed a set of I.E. sways while I was at it.

Then I purchased a set of Borbet T wheels that I refinished in satin black. Also replaced a few body panels and performed a plastic bumper conversion even scoring a rear valance from a late model 318i. Theres alot more I have done to the car... But if your like me you just wanna see more pics :)

Naaaa, no bags and that whole plastic bumper swap is all sold. I have some euro bumpers on the way and I swapped back to an early valance for now. I'm hoping to paint it real soon. I sorta miss having a car that was all one color :)

Do the paint last, looks like your basically there tho. Staying chrome or going painted on the euro bumps?

I still think theres something going on with those side moldings, looking clean.

Id like to keep them chrome, but if the finish isn't that great I will just paint them. I know they have a couple dings in them that aren't anything major I'll hafta tap out. They look really descent in the pics tho so we will see when they get here.

It's really coming along. Those trims on the fender and quarter, they were something the p.o. had on there. They were on the old doors too but the doors were rotting on the bottoms so I swapped on these delphin ones. The sunroof panel as well..... I have a lachensilber (is that right?) trunk tho. I have a couple rust spots to touch up around the tail lights and the normal license plate light rust to deal with.... then it will be ready to paint. I'd like to get a hold of a euro front valance in the near future. Gotta make more money first tho. ;)

How does the side molding look in person, and are you planning on ditching them? Definitely go with the later of the two style euro valances. It looks cleaner, its less flimsy, and I have the matching lip for it. Compared it to the regular US one, and its indeed shorter on the ends to match the euro valance. Hows the Lach (salmon silver, whatev you wanna call it) trunk lid look? Maybe we can work out a trunk lid trade? PM me!

Hahahaha.... heres what I did last night. I was feeling experimental.

This was me thinking.... I havent seen a volvo lip on an early model valance before..... mebbe someone else did this...but I haven't..... wonder if it would work?????

Then after some creative cutting.... a little drilling...... some sweat and of course a little bit of bloodshed on my behalf.......

You get a volvo lip.... on an early valance..... mounted the volvo way.......

I had it like that when I had the plastic bumper valance... It just doesn't look right with the early valance the way it flares out at the bottom when it's upside down. Everyone is entitled to their opinion I suppose.
