          I spoke to Alex (Flex) two days ago. He said i can probably come and pick my ride up sometime next week.

          Carbon? How do you mean?
          EDIT: Just asked him ...
          If by carbon you mean the gold/copper color, he said it depends on the cleaning method or cleaning material that is used. If other material is used it can be alu of color.
          Yes it was hot tanked.

            no i mean all the black carbon in the combustion chambers in the head

              in fact if he had hot tanked it the valvetrain would be shiny or at least more aluminum in color than oil soaked

                    to date i've had 177 heads hot tanked (various engines 14 of which were m20 heads) in 3 states @ 19 machine shops and never ever have i seen the outside of the head shiny while the combustion chambers and topside of the head are oil soaked copper. i would guess if anything he used brake clean or gunk engine degreaser and some sandpaper or the powerball or something. hottank FTW

                      I'd be very upset if I received a head from the machine shop like that. Of course I'm more about looks. ;D
