that's completely true, when my car's 100% fine I'll drive it harder to see what's going to go next! haha.

i had similar fun with mine when i got it tho i havent had to do the headgasket on it yet. id say about 1/3 of the last year and a half or so that ive owned mine its been off the road or needing work. when i bought it the waterpump took a spectacular shit the very next day, fixed that and done the timing belt, fired it up a day or 2 later and broke some rockers, replaced all of those, blew the automatic gearbox, swapped to manual, blew the manual, swapped to another manual and still holding up touch wood. most recent pleasant surprise was the propshaft centre support eating itself so had to do that too. my passenger side carpet is nicely damp (forgot to mention minor rust repair in front arches previously, prob to do with that), my blower now only works on settings 2 and 3 and theres a few other things too.

when it is driving and on the road its loads of fun, have chucked a few minor mods on it while i was working on it since i bought it, nothing crazy tho.

lately havent had many big problems so ive started tuning the stock management and knocking out a few chips here and there. built a MAF conversion but took that out about a month ago to tune a chip for some E36 4 pintle injectors (0280150415's). have already run and tuned for 19lb M30 injectors with my MAF but now ive got that chip tune for the 415's done with the stock AFM ill be putting the MAF back in and seeing if i cant get it working nicely with the 415's.
Holy mother of god, thank goodness mine isn't that bad! That is some bad luck you've had, I hope mine doesn't end up the same way. Keep up the good work though! Nice to see you've kept your chin up.

You can make a nice car out of that, but it is gonna be quite a bot of work.

Oh yeah I read the "Stupid things PO have done" thread, quite the chuckle you posted and quite the handful that E30 seemed to be haha. Nice work though.

    To everyone else, thanks!

wow, good stuff playing save a ho, e30 would have been for a wrecker probably if you didnt grab it..

And yeah not a fan of bronzit but when its done well its pretty good, just saw a car today mint condition paint, quite low, 17" black centre bbs like wheels with polished lip and a bad ass m50 engine.

I admire people who bring E30's back from the brink of death.

Tell me about it. The PO was so neglectful.
The Interior was completely spray painted. No, I'm not talking about he took parts individually and masked things off, I'm talking about he took black spraypaint and tried to make the nice tan interior black.
Not only that, but every clip that held everything together in the interior was missing. There was one bolt holding each seat down
Some of the wires are just twisted together, not even electrical tape.
Rear tires are bald, front tires are perfect= "Drift car" abuse
The valve cover was held on by one nut.
He "forgot" to put power steering fluid in the reservoir, so now I'm left with no power steering as a dry pump means broken seals.
The strut tower only has 1 nut holding it in place there talk about scary!
I could go on, but I'm glad I saved it.
