And worked on the carbon....sanding rough shape and laying up another layer of resin



Gunna cut this piece to shape tomorrow....forgot to where long sleeves today. I hate how your skin feels after sanding this stuff.

so what did you end up using to cut the carbon fiber? last time i had to cut some CF up i just used a Dremel tool with a cutting disc.

I usually would use a dremel...but since I wanted straight lines I used a band saw and a belt sander

Everything I did today was a complete fail...I guess that's what I get for taking a break from composites....

The bottom wasn't flat enough to stick to the center console, so I put it on the belt sander. Well, it got sucked down in between the table and the belt. F**k.

And you might wonder what happened to this piece?



Well, I was on my last round of buffing and it got caught in the buffer and flew around my shed. Picked it up and the corner was chipped.

So yeah. Today was a fail....

So I got out some more carbon and layed up another sheet.



Hopefully I don't run out of resin/hardener in case of low spots.

Dude, I know you said you dad knows how to weld but I will tell you that those weld are garbage. First off, you didnt weld it all the way around which amplifies the likelihood of a crack or fissure to form; Secondly, The welds arent penetrating deep enough; lastly, they dont even look good. LOL. No offense, I really respect you for trying to tackle anything and everything by yourself, but in this case, you need to fix the welds asap. If you are ever down in the inland empire, Stop by and Ill reweld those for you properly for free.

Just gouge the old welds out and reweld. Post weld cleanup is also very important, if you end up doing it again. Lookin' good so far tho!
