    90 325i Build Thread

Hey guys my name is Eric and I'm from Northern NJ. I recently bought a 1990 325i that I plan on making my track/drift slut. :)

So far I have gotten new timing belt & tensioner, alternator belt, power steering belt, valve cover gasket, spark plugs, air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, water pump, and a Momo steering wheel & hub. While I was waiting for all of this to ship I gutted it completely and did a whole lot of research.

This week I should be getting all of this installed plus a full fuild flush then moving it from the shop I work at to my house. Once home I plan on painting all chrome exterior trim, valve cover, and intake manifold.

Future plans are : Turbo kit, coilovers, front and rear sway & strut bars, roll cage, fuel system, ignition system, aluminum race radiator along with all new silicone lines, brake upgrade, carbon fiber bonnet and boot (been watching alot of Top Gear lately, Netflix FTMFW) projector headlights, Kosei K1's, and some sort of custom gauge set up.

Hope you all enjoy and I'll keep you update as much as possible!

UPDATE: This week I should be getting it all installed and doing the A/C delete while I'm in there. I'm just waiting on the aluminum radiator along with a Distributor cap and rotor, 71 degree Thermostat, and a Camshaft seal O-ring I ordered. I'm trying to replace all the basic stuff first so once I get the turbo kit in I don't have to worry about the little things. Any other suggestions of things I should replace while I'm doing all this maintance?

Quick question I'm shopping for injectors, anyone recommend a certain brand or size. I want ones that will support up to 400whp.

Any reason to running a cooler T stat? Honestly I would stick with a stock T stat. It will help with your emissions and better MPG.

Well the car is only going to be driven to meets and at the track so MPG and emissions aren't a big deal to me at all. I wanted it for racing so the motor stays cooler.

              Nice E30.

              Mustangs suck.

              Keep us updated.

Meh, even for racing its not all that great. if all of your cooling parts are new or in good shape and your engines not staying cool, then you have some other issues.
Maybe you should do a little reading on it and how it all works. Just trying to help is all.

Haha couldn't agree more! It was either build the mustang or find something else and now the mustang is for sale. :)

I haven't really driven the car to much maybe all of 25miles. I just figured while I was doing the timing belt I might as well change it and why not go with the cooler one. And I appreciate the help that's why I'm here!

So getting the dash back together right now and when I turn the key it just keeps clicking. Dash is plugged in but is not getting any power, neither are the windows. Any thoughts? Car did have an after market viper alarm that I did unplug so I think that might be the cause of it.

Hooked the charge pack up to it and still nothing. Here are a few pics of the mess. Let me know if you guys see anything weird or different.

Turn your headlights on and try to start it. If they go really dim, it's the battery. If not, it's most likely your starter. Mine did that a while back.
