I steam cleaned the engine bay and hood in prep for new hood insulation and hood cover install. Also installed the pedal assembly and clutch master today. It got dark so will post pics of the pedals once I can take better pics.

Got news my driver seat foam and new gas tank show up tomorrow so this weekend will be action packed.

After... I think a quick once over with an orbital will be the final trick.



Pedal assembly. I installed an early model clutch even though I also welded in the tab on the pedal bracket for the late model return spring set up. I ran the early model return spring set up.

No mods needed to the pedal box with this setup on my airbag car.

Completed brakes and currently working on the 540 booster in the engine bay. I have the mounts tacked in and need to finish it up along final placement of the reservoir mount.

For those that have followed the build, I sourced a set of E30 M3 brakes off a forum member years ago which were nasty dirty and rusty as they were from a Chicago M3. Anyway, I bead blasted them and they looked like new. At the time, I was debating what color to paint them and with the project going into stall mode, well, they never got painted.

Fast forward two years and they had slight flash surface rust on them due to me blasting them down to bare metal. After another quick go with my bead blaster with glass bead, I cleaned and then painted them cast iron.

Here is what the fronts looked like after just taking them off the car -

Oh, got some great news that my driveshaft balance got done today as well. I installed a new center bearing and guibo and had a driveline shop check it out given I wanted to give this car the beans right from the get go and, well, not sure I trusted the separation marks from the guy I got it from off CL either.

Thanks.... continued progress and items that are close enough to complete to share pics. Got lots other items in progress as well on motor and engine bay.

Finished my Euro headlights by install of all new adjusters












Installed them earlier yesterday and worked smooth as silk.

Another pain in the ass job was pulling the harness and removing all the old friction tape and then doing a clean rewrap to keep it nice and organized.



After the numerous hours on my butt with my legs under the car doing this harness rewrap I was finally in a good position to install my crack free dash. OMG, how awesome a feeling to start to see a car again! :D



Also used 3M pro interior glue to get the foam sound insulation above the headliner back in place and glued in so it will not sag and take out my new headliner from World Interiors that I will be installing down the road.



Another project was a Meh on results, kinda lackluster on getting the peel back vinyl on the front headliner section. I think this will require finding a used one and then just peeling and doing a full new black vinyl install on that backing.

Yeah, the build was planned to originally be done in a year but some other of lifes items got higher priority. I am on the full court press now.

those seats look very nice, did you have the kit done local or order from someone online?

Kit from a guy in California. Once its all done and there are no issues, then I'll be in a position to share more details. Need to hold while still in process. Waiting on new driver side bolster foam and seat shocks to finish them up.

Minor update - as I have been working on things that are just half done I needed to do something today to get the blood pumping. I decided to pull out the box of wheel parts and install the M Systems I and II on the car to see it in a more completed look.

Forgive the 4x4 as there is no gas tank, no motor, trans or seats either. Install with new triplesqaure bolt hardware.

New year BUMP! Ok I'm late to the party but I need an update!!! Some incredible work going into this car! Title is misleading...

And another New Year Bump! :D

Well, what can I say... got busy with life, wife and kids and career and the project car completely stalled out.

Anyway, got a four post lift installed last month and that kick started the desire on my E30 build. I really want to turn the key on this thing by the end of the month.

Enough chatter... here is the status of last couple evenings work.

Decided to do full leather interior rebuild and started with the front seats. Pic is of the original black leather sport seat and parts of kit used.





Still need to put together the seat mechanics and rails and pleased with work so far as this is my first time doing seat and leather work.

I am going to install new seat shocks as well and those show up next Monday with my new gas tank and associated hardware.

Just a few more wrinkles to work with heat gun but overall, I think its progressing well.

Just read through all of this and I'm very jealous. Awesome work and every mod is choice.

Sir Blunt provided all the new Euro trim, all new interior console pieces and lighted shift knob.

Is that a brand new dash?! If so, how did you get it, I want one so bad since they are so nice.
