Looks awesome dude. Having an e30 as a first car is the best thing ever. (I would know I'm 17 and have had my e30 for about a year and a half). I'm glad for you cause I know it takes forever to finally find the car u want.
What I found takes off the cosmoline well is acetone. Although pretty harsh, it does the job well. My bay was worse than yours when I first got it and with a LOT of elbow grease and time I got it almost perfect. Almost :p painting ur intake and valve cover would definitely clean things up.Leave a comment:

That's a lot of cosmoline (the orange and green stuff) and I wouldn't wash the engine running. Just do it after a drive, it's a sort of ghetto steam clean.Leave a comment:

i found out that it helps that the engine is hot when i clean it. that way the oil just slips off with simple green max. then i power spray it.Leave a comment:
