    So acetone though will evaporate off quick. Ill try some mineral spirits... I have some at home. But no acetone

    I think white would be hot. Or yellow. Im done for yellow.

    I saw it done on an m20 with 210hp N/A... it had triple webbers. That was a year ago on bimmerforums

    white? i personally like the way it looks when people do the valve cover black and leave the bmw + lines around the bmw symbol bare. but thats my opinion as its ur car :P

    John, you talking a steam clean?

    I was thinking white for my valve cover, Ill buy the paint at Oreilly's tonight or tomorrow. Also Im picking up some SEM trim black

    Looks awesome dude. Having an e30 as a first car is the best thing ever. (I would know I'm 17 and have had my e30 for about a year and a half). I'm glad for you cause I know it takes forever to finally find the car u want.

    What I found takes off the cosmoline well is acetone. Although pretty harsh, it does the job well. My bay was worse than yours when I first got it and with a LOT of elbow grease and time I got it almost perfect. Almost :p painting ur intake and valve cover would definitely clean things up.

    That's a lot of cosmoline (the orange and green stuff) and I wouldn't wash the engine running. Just do it after a drive, it's a sort of ghetto steam clean.

    i found out that it helps that the engine is hot when i clean it. that way the oil just slips off with simple green max. then i power spray it.
