Thanks!
Exactly, I think they are going to be a considerably softer with the rubber as opposed to the spherical bearing. I only drove the car a short while with the original plates and with new CA's and FCAB's, there was a harshness and slight "clunking" that I really didnt like. I ordered a rebuild kit for the GC's and then the touring kit came out a short time later so I picked up a set of those instead.

Arent those a little softer and no castor adjustment? I have been tempted to go that route as well.
I like forward movements. Any shots of that finished head yet? :)Leave a comment:

So VAC called and said the head shipped out yesterday and I should have it on Tuesday according to UPS tracking. I ended up with the Stage one package and had them install the IE HD rockers that I picked up from nando. I'm trying to line everything up to get the motor back in the car next Saturday, a litlle over a week away.
Flywheel is back from being resurfaced:

Picked up some more goodies from Blunt. Here is a good picture of the revised intermediate gear(left) compared to the original(right):

Cleaned up the E36 M3 rack that I picked up from Joe Funk 3 years ago. I hope it doesn't leak!

Hopefully the next update will be a big one. I believe I have everything on hand to get the motor back in the car next weekend. That way I can push the car down to the lower garage and start working on the turbo. That way my wife can have a parking spot in the upper garage before winter. I was given an ultimatum a few months back.Last edited by Mtriple; 08-29-2017, 01:31 PM.Leave a comment:

I'd stencil "Reusable Crate Do Not Destroy" on it. That's how I used to ship cylinder heads.Leave a comment:

Spent a few hours today building a crate to send the head off to VAC. She's all packed up and nestled in the coffin to be shipped out on Friday when I'm off from work.

Thanks man, Todd at TCD had the manifold and the downpipe done in a ceramic coating that has a chrome like appearance.Awesome project, I am glad to see it actually progressing. I know people have expressed disdain for the TCD log manifold, but I have always liked it. I like where it situates the turbo, and the drop in efficiency is marginal at most. Does the log have just high temp paint on it?
Good decision on PC'ing the pan too. I was going to suggest a light color as I thought you were going to do black like the rest of your stuff, but it appears you know what is going on. I like the textured black stuff too. Just out of curiosity, what do you pay for the coating? They charge by the batch, correct?
I use a guy that is local to me. His prices are not the best but he hooks me up every now and then and he's a car guy and is always interested in what I'm up to. I paid 250ish for everything that you see in this thread.Leave a comment:
