1990 325i Delphin Coupe Project

Project car purchased on craigslist. I was told it was hit while parked. It had front end damage to the driver side. Even with the damage, the title was clean. Towed it home and started to evaluate the car.



Considered parting it out because the rest of the car was intact and fairly clean.



Decided to put a fender on it and see if things could be fixed.






With a little tweaking it was close.






It also needed a new control arm and front strut housing. Found at u-pull-it.



Cleaned up the car and scrubbed the wheels.



Eibach Springs and Bilstein shocks. Also found at u-pull-it FTW.

Ordered some parts from BMA Parts. Amazingly they shipped free and arrived the next day. Wow!

This car will be back on the road soon.

Decided to try to paint the blue door and fender to match the rest of the car. Got a pint of delphin paint at a local auto paint supplier. Used a $15 harbor freight HVLP spray gun.




The color is close enough for now. The main problem I had was the orange peel. Still need to wet sand and buff it out a little.



Took the car for a smog check and it failed just about every tailpipe category. In addition I've noticed the CAT has been rattling. Got a downpipe and cat from a forum member.



Removed the old stuff and noticed the flange on the old manifold was broken. With the new downpipe the car is much quieter now.



Have an M52 I purchased from Craigslist. Haven't decided if it's going into this car yet. We'll see....
